Guest guest
Wisdom of the group...HELP ME! I just read the Arc's latest email blast that I thinks says cuts are coming across the board in Illinois unless we pass a responsible budget referencing the budget proposed by the Responsible Budget Coalition... If I am reading that blast right, then having been in Springfield to testify on HR 720 the day all the demonstraters were marching, the message from the responsible budget folks that day was we simply want a larger slice of the pie for ourseleves -- simply put minimum 5% salary raises! It seems to me given the economic conditions of the day in Illinois that was NOT a responsible budget position but rather generally an irresponsible demand. Moreover, if you look at the key stakeholders on the Responsible Budget Team, help me, is it not primarily UNION DRIVEN simply looking for more money for their members which oh by the way means more $$$ for the unions ultimately! At a time when Illinois is essentailly broke, with 18,000+/- on waiting lists for HBSSP and other adult funding, the Responsible Budget Coalition has the gall to blantantly seek pay hikes for workers with jobs when so many families have NOTHING! Is that responsible budget or just flat out greed? Humbly grateful to be your companion on the journey... Gordon P.
