Guest guest
Hi. Hopefully someone out there can help me with a couple of questions I have. My son is working at a couple (outside places from the school) very minimally, but made possible through the vocational program in Dist 204. I have seen others on this site I thought, tallk about how thankful they were that their child completed the necessary number of quarters working, to meet the criteria to meet guidelines to receive SSDI as opposed to the SSI. So here goes: 1) How many quarters of work have to be satisfied? 2) How was this accomplished through the vocational program AT SCHOOL? Because my sons checks from working come from the school district (I believe from their GPF- " General Purpose funds " I think. They are telling me after i have asked the school program director 2 different times, that they cannot take out fed taxes etc. Isn't that what needs to happen, they take out taxes etc, to make the employment " count " toward quarters worked (prior to exiting school system at age 22)? Seems to me the school should be doing whatever they can to prepare our kids best for entering the world, and if getting into SSDI as opposed to SSI is the answer, then why are they not doing more to make this happen? 3) so again how many quarters of work, with what stipulations needed to qualify? 4) Who should I talk to from the district to make them see this and not continue to brush it off? Your help, hopefully from one of the experts who know FOR SURE, AS TO NOT CONFUSE EVERYONE HERE., would be greatly appreciated? Actually all answers and help are always appreciated, but I don't want everyone answering what they think, and then conflicting answers and thus really confusing me and everyone else in this boat. Thanks all! Diane S
