Guest guest
FYI... Sure wish we could come up with some other strategy other than more borrowing... On the one hand, it is unconscionable that agencies are going unpaid, on the other, digging a deeper hole doesn't sound right either...any thoughts? If you feel that this is the only way, by all means, contact your legislators immediately and let them know how you feel...in any event, we should be contacting our legislators to remind them repeatedly that our agencies are not getting paid. They must be held accountable. Ask them what they plan on doing about it. Ellen Ellen Garber Bronfeld egskb@... Arc and Effort to Pay You Falls Short! The Arc of Illinois January 14, 2010 Leaders in The Arc: I am sorry to report to you than an effort to advance payments to human service providers failed in the Senate yesterday afternoon. I had thought agreement had been met between the parties in the Senate to advance Senate Bill 1425, but it appears that agreement had a short life! Senate Bill 1425 would have authorized $250,000,000 to be issued only during fiscal year 2010 for the making of deposits into the Healthcare Provider Relief Fund for the exclusive purpose of funding Medicaid services subject to the enhanced federal participation due to expire on December 31, 2010. You need to talk to your Senators about putting aside politics and working together to help fund human services! The payment delays we are faced with are unacceptable! Yes, this would have meant more borrowing by the state, but right now that is our only option for getting paid! The next opportunity to advance SB 1425 is after the primary election when legislators return to the Capitol on February 3rd. Call your Senators next week!
