These are the next two opportunities to hear the candidates. It's no secret that I expended lots of energy trying to drum support and increase understanding about IL's Home-based Support Services program when our accidental Governor made a deal with SEIU that is harmful to the integrity of the program. But isn't that just like IL policymakers? Taking something that actually is a good thing and bastardizing it for political gain? Any way . . . I agree with . With one minor edit. : ) I support Dan Proft. I believe that government needs to get smaller and less intrusive to grow the state's tax base. Cutting taxes leads to business growth and jobs which lead to higher revenues...its as simple as that. Our programs are already failing and regardless of the party in office we seem to be only given a few dollars to placate us through the next election. Also with lower taxes we can take better care of our own families right now! With Quinn or Hynes do you think that you will get the increased money taken out of your pockets back into services for your family???? This is not an easy position to maintain in the disability community. There is SUCH a strong push for raising taxes. The ARC and the Responsible Budget group are a very strong, loud and trusted voice for many families across Illinois. Then there is a growing group of us, like and me, who disagree with Illinois' disability advocates. For those of you who agree with our position, I urge you to look closely at GOP Gubernatorial candidates, Proft and And Gee Eff Ski. This primary is CRITICAL. If the people of Illinois are going to make a change - they must not elect a status quo candidate - whether they claim to be an outsider or not. Here in Illinois, it's referred to as the Combine. (syllabic emphasis of the 1st syllable, like the farm machine) Many Republicans and Democrats are so similar, it is nearly impossible to discern differences. Their political actions are so sickly symbiotic, the machine keeps grinding away. For the first time in my adult life, I will be pulling a REPUBLICAN ballot on Primary Day and casting my vote for Dan Proft. Remember, you can pull a Republican ballot in the Primary and vote for whatever candidate of any party in the General. Pam
