Guest guest
I have read descriptions of acrodynia (subacute mercury poisoning) being associated with erythema of fingers, toes, ears, face, etc. I have seen this phenomena with my son after DMSA treatment. Has anyone else noticed this type of redness? Jeff S.
Guest guest
, Yes, my son has had this ever since his adverse reaction to the MMR/DPaT/OPV immunizations at 15 months. Actually, I was noticing this morning (and we are only on day 3 of treatment) that his hands seemed a little LESS red. (Cary, NC) persistentC@... Guest guest
Redness on ears is also a sign of PST deficiency (sulphar pathways problems). We never tested for that. He does react to some foods that are high in phenols but not all. The red ears and cheeks/face are a sign of allergy as well so I suspect that's more the case for him. It is extraordinarily rare for him to get these nowadays. He's been cured of most of his inhalant allergies through TBM treatments and food allergies are out of his diet -- some of which contain phenols. But he is taking Malic acid and eats alot of thyme with no negative reaction. He used to react to apples which the malic acid is made from but the TBM treatments cured that. Interestingly, I know a child who gets red ears and sometimes a red face when he's making some brain connections/progress. His mom is really knowledgable about allergies and such and got really confused by the times he'd get the red ears and do extraordinarily well that day and keep the progress he'd made -- kind of opposite to what you'd expect from an allergy reaction. After awhile, she began to see a pattern and got excited by the red ears. He's not autistic but rather brain damaged from his abusive birth mother. Guest guest
Jeff, I haven't noticed this effect. Our dosage is pretty low- we're now up to 100 mg./day DMSA spread out over 24 hours. We were also using lipoic acid, but I've just stopped that pending reduction in the body mercury levels. My kid just turned 4 and weighs 43 lbs. What is your protocol? Guest guest
That's right. SR is sustained release. I am planning to add oral metachel (powdered reduced keratin). My understanding is that this compound can bind mercury in the gut and keep it from being reabsorbed. Keratin is not absorbed. One limitation of DMSA / mercury complex is that a fair amount is excreted by the biliary system into the gut- and some is reabsorbed. If the theory is right, then there will be less recycling of mercury. We'll see. J. Segal > << -Protocol is DMSA- SR 40 mg every 8 hours for a 40 lb child. >> > > Whose protocol?
