SSDI is disability income for those who have worked and paid into Social

Security.  Dependents of those on SSDI or Social Security CAN GET SSDI instead

of SSI.

SSI does NOT require any contributions into social security and is considered a

'welfare' type program.

Seemms like a pain in the ____ another account to follow. Adam earns less

than $300 a month, hardly worth another account. I guess it is worth

following the advice .. Cindi

Shirley...Here is my guess why your son's SSDI is split...only a guess based

on some harowing things we are currently experiencing. I recall you saying

your son works, has worked? My guess is that is why the split. Adam is

getting some ssdi on his record, some on my record(I get ssdi, I am blind).

Adam is also getting a small ssi check .

Your son has probably put in enough credits that he is getting SSDI on his

record and some on has father's.

Does this sound reasonable?

Could be Cindi.  I tried asking them and they said they did not know but that

is what they were told to do.  He has been working 8 years part time so that

could be it.  Thank you.
