Guest guest
My dear friends on IPADD, SEIU has been granted a hearing by AAA on the matter of objections to the the HBSSP election. The union is asking for a " rerun " of the last election that they lost 2 -1 thanks to all of your work. Sure as the sun will come up tomorrow, if AAA does not grant a " rerun " election essentially NOW, a sure bet is SEIU and AFSCME will be back for yet another election date of 0ctober 20, 2010 as permitted by Quinn's Executive Order 2009-15. YES, if Judge Epstein rules in our favor on Dec 14, it may slow things a bit, but the State or union can appeal Judge Epstein's decision. We should be spending our time with our adult kids not being caught up in the State/union politics or in courtrooms. YES! YES WE CAN DO SOMETHING TO STOP THIS!!. We must take it to the courts and the legislature and stop it for good! Legislative -- we, all, need to meet with our State Senators and State Reps to get them on board in support of HR 720 before January 15! State Rep Jim Durkin has already introduced the bill in the Illinois House. Use the awesome talking points sheet that Pam has developed when you go to tell your story to the folks who work for you. Judicial -- Thanks to everyone's efforts we now have a legal firm that has agreed to meet with us and represent us NOW in court to stop the war between parents, consumers and the State of Illinois. They want to go after the State and the unions on the matter of our HBSSP Personal Support Workers as well as for folks on the ORS Home Services program. This is our moment. Now is the time to act! If you are an employee under the HBSSP or ORS program, and are willing to be part of a class action suit against the State of Illinois and the unions, please send me your personal contact information - i.e. name, address, phone, and usual availablity ASAP. Please put IPADD in the subject so it gets past my spam filter or my tendency to NOT open unknown emails (sorry team) Your role in the court battle.... You will need to attend meetings to work with the attorneys from the organization to frame and develop on the civil rights case You may need to be present in the courtroom and maybe tesify in federal court located in the Chicago loop if it goes to trial You will need to be involved and work with, help and follow the direction of the attorneys Initial meetings will be attempted to be arranged based on folks schedule. Federal court will not be able to be arranged on folks schedule. We need just 6 more HBSSP families to step up and be part of the HBSSP class. Thanks. Humbly grateful to be your companion on the journey... Gordon P. Stiefel Phone: 708 246 5151 Fax: 708 246 9144 " All great change in America begins at the dinner table " , Reagan.
