Guest guest
Hi , Interestingly enough, it didn't take all that long. I wasn't doing any positions and maybe that is why it went by pretty fast. I am guessing it was only 15 minutes, 20 tops. I blew out, sniffed up and held it for the slow count of three, then puhhhh out every last little bit I possibly could, tightened everything up as I was getting the vacuum, then I concentrated on holding every muscle I could think of that would hold back the "pee" using Rashelle's example. Sorry if that was too graphic, but that is what I did. I held those muscles tight for as long as I could, then let myself take a quick breath and started over. I used my fingers to count in the "finger-math" way. (Fingers on the right hand are the ones place and the fingers on the left hand are the tens place. The thumbs are worth 5) This way I didn't have to think about how many I had done. I have taught this way of using your hands as calculators to my students for years, so, it is a pretty natural way of keeping track of numbers for me. You might be wondering if this way of working out is working. Well, let me tell you.... my hinny is sore, sore, sore! I take that as a good sign. My thighs are sore, sore, sore. Again a good sign that it is working. The rest of my body is just fine, so, I guess I need to really squeeze my belly harder because that is where I really want to be sore! Hoping this works, ~Karma<(©¿©)> http://loaves-n-fishes.com just an update Hi everyone, how come everybody's been so quiet?I did 45 breaths last night and it felt great. Although I don't feel that i do it correctly on every breath, I think i may have to slow down in order to get that vaccuum effect working correctly. I still feel a bit stiff anyhow. Karma i'm proud you did so many breaths. I'm not sure though if I would have the patience to stay in the tub that long. I really like the volleyball position idea, i'm going to try that tonight. The only position I really feel it working correctly though is just standing or when I'm on my hands and knees. Does this happen to everyone, and does it still work whether you feel it as much ? I think it still would. Well thats it for now T.T.F.N everybody and happy breathing. http://themail.com/ref.htm?ref=1227417 *** This free e-mail service pays money for messages that are read! Guest guest
Hi , I also feel like my best breaths (especially the tuck part) are taken when I'm standing or on all fours. Lately, I've been trying to do more lying down or in a sitting position, and I'm starting to get better at it. I've been doing the 'belly flattener' lying down instead of standing and I can feel more of an intense burn in my ab area, so I'm going to continue doing it this way for awhile. The 'belly flattener' is what Liz calls it when you do the tuck and instead of doing any exercise position, you just focus on clenching and pulling back your abs and holding it as long as you can. I've seen better results doing this than when I was doing 4 or 5 different ab exercises daily. Slowing the breathing down really helps with getting the breath mastered. I'm not sure how long you've been doing LL for, I've been doing it for almost 2 months and the more I practice the better I get at it ...but it wasn't until I slowed the breath down that I really began to get good at it (I did the BodyFlex breath the 3 months prior to LL). Anyway, it sounds like your doing great at this. If you already haven't, you should think about joining in the challenge that Karma started. You have to do 40 consecutive breaths everyday for 30 days. Who knows this might give you that extra insentive you need to get through the weekends. Guest guest
, I'm SO glad things are looking up! And how great that Mike was excited and actually likes the school. Hey, I was surprised that he rode the bus to school the first day. At that age, I myself would have been too shy for that before I had at least some attended classes! Did he already know some kids that attend the school, etc.? I don't see how he can have any separation anxiety and be so independent at the same time! One of my 3 has separation anxiety, a lot better now, but drove me crazy some this past year, he just turned 13 ('s twin, ). He's not so much my shadow but still has his fears. I can understand your " feeling smothered " comment. I found myself saying " go away " more than once. And I hated saying that to a child! Glad you took the ME TIME! I'm planning on taking some myself one day soon. Schedule a day off from work when I have some money and go shopping! No kids I was thinking about 2 days, maybe in a row.... Please keep us updated on your family! (((((HUGS))))) > Hi Everyone, > I just thought I would let you know that Mike started school (the therapeutic one that made me cry last week) yesterday. Guest guest
Hi there! Glad to hear it is going well. Being on meds can be a pain. I tried not to renew my sleeping pill because when I ran out I felt so much more refreshed in the morning, but that only lasted a few days before I couldn't stay asleep and my neck was on fire...so I'll take my groggy mornings instead. Been down a path with hair loss and it's the pits! Actually we finally got our new well (they still haven't fixed the septic tank) but I can actually really wash my hair in the shower without using bottled water! Ah the little pleasures in life! Guest guest
Congratulations Paige! So far I have had no change with my condition being pregnant. Morning sickness was the worst part and luckily I’ve gotten past that. I think Jen just said it a couple days ago….throwing up is an issue…and sometimes I just knew I’d feel better if I could…but at about 14 weeks the sickness subsided. I’m 23 weeks along now and doing really well! My surgery was last February 3rd…ironically, this February 3rd we had the ultrasound which told us we’re having a girl!!! Exactly one year later and my life is so much different! Just keep those bottles of water within arms reach and I’m good to go!!! Good luck and take care of yourself!! I have not posted to the group in a while, but try my best to keep updated on all that is going on. I had a successful open myotomy this past June and am thrilled with the results. I find it difficult to think back to what I was going through just one year ago. At that time I never believed pregnancy would ever become a reality. I wish the best to everyone going through the various stages of this disease, whether it be an initial diagnosis or an upcoming treatment. It can be a VERY difficult and stressful time for everyone involved, but you can see a great deal of hope from the many success stories right here on this Board. Take care! Guest guest
LeeAnn, I am glad to hear that you are going to have your surgery. That will make eating a lot more enjoyable. Being nervous about the surgery is ok. You have made your mind up to that so stick to it do not second guess yourself. That should take away some of the nervousness. Depending on how long you will be in hospital and if you have family to help you out will depend on what you might want to take. I took soap, towel, toothbrush and tooth past, some pyjamas and some slippers. I took some books and some word searches and also my kids game boy advance so I could play games...lol If you have family or friends near by then they can always bring you stuff you have forgotten. My last surgery I did not have any family or friend near by so I was stuck with what I brought. Oh well life goes on...lol Your surgery will go fine and we are all pulling for you. in Suffolk
Guest guest
Thanks to everyone that replied. I really appreciate your kind words and assurance. I agree with the comment regarding being completely knocked out for the scope. I've already had a scope done twice before and both times i was completely put to sleep. This time however, I was pretty much awake. He said something about taking it easy on me because I'm little ( I only weigh 95 pounds now). Infact it made things a lot worse. It absolutely sucks having the scope being jabbed into your throat while gagging. Ughh! Deborah we should definetely compare our progress results. My surgery is scheduled for Jan 5th. I have the same concerns as you about missing time from work (and school). I hope to be back in action by the 16th though I'm not going to push myself. The best advice i've got from this group is to take it easy and really listen to your body. I'm going in for the pre- operative stuff tmrw. What exactly is the point of that? In the meantime, I'm just trying to enjoy the Holiday season. We gotta stay positive and hope for all the best in the new year.

Guest guest
Sorry to hear this . You are in my prayers. You might try asking your pdoc to have a phone consult with the psychiatrist. In Canada we have months long waiting lists and it is often the family doctor who prescribes in consultation with a psychiatrist. Not sure if this is a possibility for you, and ideally one does consult the psych first, but if she's really suffering, a low dose trial might make some sense to try. There are many natural remedies that might help to calm the anxiety, that you might try while you are waiting. Others on this list are more familiar than me. You might try a post asking for suggestions. I believe one is called Pure Calm. Hang in there! Yesterday it was mostly tantrum and behavior issues but later in the evening when I took her to a dance show at a local college, she seemed to freak out. She was very nervous and jittery when audience members would yell out name and cheer on their favorite dancers. She was EXTREMELY nervous when the smoke machine kicked on and frequently said she wanted to go home but we did ride it out as LOVES dancing and has always enjoyed these shows. Now today she woke up and the first thing out of her mouth was regarding germs and had to wash her hands. Got up once in church to wash her hands. Would not eat her goldfish crackers at church because she felt if she put her hand in the bag then they would get yucky and she would die. Now that we are home, the spitting is returning. I don't know how her poor little legs don't get tired from running to the trash can to spit so many times. She is going to her psychologist on Tuesday but could not get in with a child psychiatrist until March 24 for a medication evaluation and her pediatrician will not even consider prescribing Prozac because she is not familiar with its use in kids her age.
