The absolute need to make sure that each and every resident of Howe is transitioned safely with all necessary supports in place. 2. There is very strong and organized effort to convince Governor Quinn to reverse his decision and keep Howe open. Today, the Committee to Save Howe Developmental Center circulated a press release stating they had 5000 signatures on a petition and the support of a long list of IL lawmakers, including a US Representative, , Jr. and received wide media coverage including a story on ABC 7’s 6:00 evening news. People are not discussing the need for appropriate community supports. They are discussing Representative , Jr. and AFSCME and keeping Howe open.
