The Law for Children and Adults with Disabilities, September 2009

Farley, Attorney at Law

Success Stories

By H. Farley, Esq.

Securing services for children and adults with developmental disabilities can be

one of the most challenging experiences family members and guardians face as

they care for their loved ones. It is highly advisable for parents and

caregivers to attend free Workshops presented by Attorney H. Farley, Jr.

in order to learn how to navigate the disability system and obtain all the

benefits which the disabled person is entitled to under the law.

1. After attending a Workshop presented by Attorney H. Farley, Jr., a

family was successful in obtaining Home Based Support Services from the State of

Illinois for their two developmentally disabled children without resorting to

litigation. Prior to attending the Workshop, the family had been told that they

could not obtain funding. After the Workshop, the family followed the strategy

outlined by H. Farley, Jr.

2. Two families with medically fragile children were able to prevent the State

of Illinois from reducing their Medicaid benefits (skilled nursing services) at

age 21 as the result of H. Farley, Jr. securing federal court orders

against the State of Illinois in September, 2009.
