From the bottom-up, the Million Message March to the UN arrives

in NY

June 8th, 2011 - Non Stop for 24 hours (0h-24h CET)

Speak-Up Sessions for the UN High Level Meeting on HIV / Universal

Access

Come tell the UN and its 200 member governments what you think

and need for your Right to Health.

Together, the community will forge its Declaration for the 'World's

Leaders'.

Wednesday the 8th of June marks the opening of the High Level

Meeting of the UN on Universal Access and HIV, and the Million

Message March to the UN arrives in New York for this

important global health event. The March is a collaborative campaign

over 7 months to mobilize the broad 'community' towards greater

involvement in Right to Health issues, by gathering their messages,

online and frontline, and delivering them, loud and clear, direct to

our 'World Leaders'.

To amplify the 'voices' of the community, and mobilize new interest

and energies on related issues, the IMAXI ative, friends and

partners are organizing over 75 Speak-Up Sessions non-stop

during the 24 hours of June 8th. These Speak-Ups, moderated live

from dozens of communities around the world by partners, experts and

activists on diverse topics, are 20 minute long chats on twitter,

with links via SMS, Facebook and blogs. The topics for each session

are the moderators' choice, derived from the draft UN Declaration

(or what’s missing) and related issues of interest to their

community members / followers.

The Speak-Up Sessions encourage a wide range of people to be more

involved, through various platforms of communications, and to join

in the ‘open’ drafting of recommendations which will be included in

the final declaration. These community-driven policy documents will

be submitted at the end of the Million Message March to the High

Commissioner on Human Rights on HR Day in December. 

Together, we're opening the UN, and delivering the community's Right

to Health messages loud and clear, from the bottom up to the top.
