Guest guest
Health & Development Communication Conference Newly Opened Piccolo Bar On behalf of the conference local organizing committee and the institutional partners, namely the Ministry of Information and Communication, African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC), Daystar University, Internews, Population Research Bureau among others, I welcome you to this page of the Health and Development Communication Conference to be held this coming June. The Health and Development Communication conference will be the first event held by Communication Africa, a group of partners drawn together by their concern for the dissemination of information crucial for health and development in Africa. Through bringing together media workers and owners, scholars, health and development workers, as well as policy makers in Africa, Communication Africa hopes to establish a forum that continues beyond this conference to reflect on and discuss the importance of communication in meeting Africa's health and development goals. However, we do not limit our discourse to Africa. We believe that policies, practices and scholarship from across the globe, and from where health and development work is ongoing, can only enrich the human experience. In addition to the conference meetings and deliberations, we will hold a two-day pre-conference training for journalists and student journalists to examine how health and development issues are treated in the media. We are privileged to have a team of experienced and qualified colleagues, drawn from both the US and Kenya, to offer this important training. This workshop will be followed by three days of intense examination of topics related to health and development communication through daily plenary sessions, break out groups, and workshops. We will also hold events specifically for bringing together communication industry players and policy players to critique their role in society, the effect of their policies on lives and the social impact of the information dissemination. We will soon post the program of the conference on this site. We are delighted that you stopped by this page and trust that you will be interested in the conference and become part of a global discussion on the issues that inform health and development work. http://communicationafrica.org/index.php?option=com_k2 & view=item & id=42:health-de\ velopment-communication-conference
