Guest guest
I am so much concerned about tree planting and especially the help that we get when we plant trees. I have the desire to initiate a tree planting project for 2011/2012 while i will be away from college for attachment. I want to use schools, churches, and youth and women groups. This initiative has to begin now so that it will be a success by next year when i go back to finish my last two semesters. I written a project proposal for it so that it will be monitored and evaluated well. I am focusing this to Nyakach District alone but it may go beyond after the initial one has taken place successful. I am aiming to initiate a vision to plant about 2.5 Million trees within 5 years. WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR Ideas to make this project a success People with information and resources Organization that are interested in tree/ environmental issues Otherwise thanks a lot for the information that you can give. Speaking a Rangenyo Primary School in Nyamira County, the PM asked Kenyans to plant at least 200 trees to increase the vegetation cover in the country. “Before we attained independence, the vegetation cover was 12 per cent of the total land. But currently, it has been reduced to only 1.7 per cent due to wanton destruction of forests, causing devastating climatic changes in many areas,†Mr Odinga said. “ We need about 7.6 billion trees country to be where we were at independence in terms of forest conservation.†The PM and his entourage had earlier planted trees at Nkora Forest in West Mugirango ahead of the World Environment Day to be marked tomorrow. The tree planting was organised by Green Kenya Initiative.
