The General Assembly adopted by consensus a resolution on the “Organizationof the 2011 comprehensive review of the progress achieved in realizing theDeclaration of Commitment on HIV/AIDS and the Political Declaration on

HIV/AIDS”. The text was presented by the President of the General Assembly.The high-level meeting is to be held from 8 to 10 June 2011 which willundertake a comprehensive review of the progress achieved in realizing the

Declaration of Commitment and the Political Declaration, includingsuccesses, best practices, lessons learned, obstacles and gaps, challengesand opportunities, and recommendations to guide and monitor the HIV/AIDS

response beyond 2010, including concrete strategies for action as wellpromote the continued commitment and engagement of leaders in acomprehensive response to HIV/AIDS.The high-level meeting will comprise of plenary meetings and up to five

thematic panel discussions.The President of the General Assembly has been requested to organize, latestby April 2011, an informal interactive civil society hearing with the activeparticipation of people living with HIV and broader civil society, Member

States, observers, NGOs in consultative status with ECOSOC, invited civilsociety organizations and the private sector, as part of the preparatoryprocess for the high-level meeting. The President will prepare a summary of the hearing to be issued as a

document of the General assembly prior to the high-level meeting.The Secretary-General has been requested to submit a comprehensive andanalytical report for consideration by Member States on progress achieved

and the challenges remaining in realizing the commitments as well asrecommendations for sustainable ways to overcome those challenges.There will be a negotiated outcome document of the high-level meeting that
