Guest guest
Hello Natives and Friends of Africa Happy New Year to You ALL! Last fall, the African Health Foundation ( Owino, President) and The Pendulum Project (Ellen McCurley, Executive Director) began discussing an idea to bring together the many local individuals, ad hoc groups and small non-profit agencies who are faithfully supporting children orphaned and otherwise impacted by AIDS in Africa. Potential benefits of this initiative could include opportunities for networking/collaboration, expressions of solidarity/encouragement, skill building, and development of a stronger collective voice to share and advocate for practical/sustainable solutions for AIDS orphans in sub-Saharan Africa. I am writing because we hope that you would offer some feedback on this idea, including whether you have any interest? If so, what types of issues or activities would be most useful to you and your work? What else should we be thinking about? We are considering a half-day meeting in Boston MA early March to kick off the initiative, but planning is in the early stages. We don't claim ownership over this idea. Instead, we hope that you feel free to comment at any point, participate at any level, and help us to be inclusive by forwarding this message on to other potentially interested parties. We're excited to hear from you! Feel free to reply to this email or to contact me or Tim Burke.
