A heated debated recently at the BBC website.

Are African men using condoms?

Is low condom use a real factor in the growing HIV/Aids pandemic?

A new type of condom is on sale in South Africa. Pronto condom

designer Willem van Rensburg told the BBC it takes only a second to

put on.

Mr Van Rensburg hopes it will encourage more people to use condoms in

a country where 5.5m people have HIV - one of the world's highest

figures.

Do you use a condom when you have sex? If not, why not? Are they

readily available where you live? Do you feel free to talk about

condoms with your partner?

***********************************

All these 'Moralistic' comments seem to come right out of another

planet. In a country like Nigeria where vast numbers of married men

have multiple women partners and more married men cheat than those

that dont some people expect a religious solution to such a problem.

If humans were to completely follow religious solutions there would

also be no crime, violence, disrespect, murder, CORRUPTION,

Materialism, stealing etc. We need to start beign practical and stop

this Nigerian Hypocrisy

African men use condoms like any other group of people. This question

is a bit biased, all men regardless of their ethnic back ground have

to use condoms if they are to evade HIV/AIDS. The majority of African

men use condoms excerpt a few who do not believe that HIV/AIDS exists.

What the world is doing is that we are going in circles, again we do

not want to tell the truth. Please allow me to ask a question; " where

did HIV/AIDS started? " Was it started with an African men? no. Why

suspicion?

The HIV/AIDS orthodoxy is one of the biggest medical fraud in human

history. AIDS in Africa is caused by poverty and other diseases that

we have had for decades. Take an HIV test and this is what you find:

HIV+ and TB=AIDS; TB alone= TB; what is the logic? Africa is

suffering from old diseases under a new name.Just provide me a

reference that says that HIV causes AIDS and I will shut up. Todate

no HIV virus has been I solated in pure form. The whole thing is hoax

The use of condoms is very important not only for Africa also for

Asia and Latin America.in those 3 continents are the AIDS virus

spread and the unwanted population growth, which is not balanced with

the food production, most of the poor countries have high growth of

population and spread of HIV virus in the young generation, so it is

important to use condoms to protect from HIV or other STD and

unwanted pregnancy.

there is a condom in my native country of ethiopia called sensation

endorsed by a woman, i am told was miss ethiopia not too long ago,

these commercials worsen the issue by promoting protected sex when it

help the issue more to encourage complete abstinence from sex. condom

commercials and condoms themselves are not helping at all

Prevention is better than cure so the saying goes. Abstinence and

faithfulness are the sure way to overcome sexually transmitted

diseases. If you are the flirtatious type, you must put on your

HELMENT. No matter how beautiful a girl or how handsome a man is, do

not take anything for granted if the person is not your regular

partner. The content of a man/woman is quiet different from the

outward appearance. Some women/men look beautiful/handsome outside

while deadly on the inside.

The questions are, educate or not? live or die? If it's not easily

available those who are not educated on the issues of sex will be at

risk of dying. If you believe sex is immoral and shouldn't be done

until after marriage then it is your choice not to use them but if

that was the case there would be no issue.Millions are already

infected, it's too late. Therefore people should choose to live or at

least be given a chance. We are human and know what that entails,

mind, body and soul. Think first

I am very surprised by all these coments about condoms being a taboo

and encouraging the youth to become more promicuous. Millions of

people are dying horrible senseless deaths each day. Here is a

solution that has been proven to work, ex.Uganda, and people are

still claiming moral and cultural consciousness. If people do not

recieve the right information to make choices for themselves, AIDS

will continue to ravage Africa. What is a person's life worth?

There are rumors saying Condoms has after effects and while some are

saying Condoms are only made to regulate on birth rate and not for

preventions. Personally, I think people need to be inlighting more

about the need of condom.

No particular solution will solve the problem for everyone.Fast

condom will help to reduce the break in transmission. The question

is " ARE CONDOMS 100% SAFE? " I still think abstainance is the answer

for those who can manage.

i beleive condom use should be a topic for parents at home with there

kids especially when they are over 14 yrs. kids watch all kinds of

movies now, the sex act is a common thing. parent should tell there

kids the dangers of unsafe sex, we must not hide from the fact that

the kids are innocent from the knowlegde/act about sex. they know

this not just from movies, advertisment but the chat about it with

friends. these friends tends to encourage them to the act. CONDOM

should be widely available.

AIDS hasn't stopped people from living--including making love. During

my recent visits to Nairobi, I noticed that both men and women are

more aware of the importance of safe sex. In one encouraging sign of

changing attitudes, many women now demand that their male partners

wear condoms during sex.
