If you've ever had one, you know exactly what I mean. And once you've had one, your chances of getting another skyrocket. But luckily, there are some natural, preventative measures that make a recurrence less likely. Take lactobacilli, for example. This is a class of bacteria used in the production of yogurt that's also found among the normal bacterial flora of the urinary tract and vaginal tissues. Lactobacilli are considered friendly organisms, since they compete with or inhibit disease-causing bacteria. In one study, 41 women with acute urinary-tract infections were given either lactobacillus intra-vaginal suppositories or a placebo beginning on the last day of antibiotic treatment twice a week for two weeks, followed by once a month for two months. Results showed that UTIs recurred in 47 percent of the patients given the placebo compared to only 21 percent of those give the lactobacillus suppositories. If you want to try lactobacilli in the form of yogurt, be sure to look for a brand with no sugar or artificial chemicals, sweeteners, or additives. Dr. also recommends some other effective natural remedies for UTIs, including vitamin C. When taken at a dose of 1,000 mg, four times a day, vitamin C helps suppress the growth of E. coli, the most frequent cause of UTIs. ************************************************************* Could It Happen To Someone You Love This Year? 1.The biopsy comes back CANCER 2.That " tight feeling " turns into a HEART ATTACK 3.The pain won't go away this time. The warnings are scary, but are mercury fillings really as bad as some sources are making them out to be? What are your thoughts? JVW: One day, hopefully, I will be able to write that every physician and dentist knows the hazards of mercury-containing dental amalgams. Unfortunately, that happy day hasn't yet arrived. So since the FDA (not to mention the CDC and the American Dental Association) won't warn you, I will: Clinical laboratory studies of human mercury excretion (into the bowel from the liver, the major organ of mercury excretion) show 10 times more mercury from individuals with amalgams than from individuals without them. Earlier this year, a federal government committee -- the Subcommittee on Human Rights and Wellness -- went on record with warnings about the health hazards of mercury. The subcommittee issued a report titled " Mercury in Medicine -- Taking Unnecessary Risks, " which states flatly: " Mercury is hazardous to humans. Its use in medicinal products is undesirable, unnecessary, and should be minimized or eliminated entirely. " I couldn't agree more. If you're interested in learning more about the hazards of mercury dental amalgams, or if you want to find a dentist near you who doesn't use them, visit the Consumers for Dental Choice website at www.toxicteeth.net. ************************************************************** 949,000 Lives Could Be Saved This Year & One of Them Could Be Yours There's a killer running rampant who is responsible for the deaths of 2,600 Americans a day. If you haven't heard of it already, Dr. also recommends a product called D-mannose for fighting UTIs. D-mannose coats E. coli bacteria so they can't hang onto the walls of the bladder and urinary tract. Then, the normal flow of urine just rinses the bacteria out and the infection is gone.
