Bob,

The cultures that use soy, only eat it fermented. Unfermented soy products

are a fad that's causing HUGE problems in our culture right now.

Please get your facts straight before you become the advocate of

soy. Knowing that they are at odds with the milk industry, doesn't mean

that the opposite polarity is safe, either.

I find it interesting that so many who are trying to work on their

communication and throat chakra are embroiled in the " soy " issue.

May I suggest Tourquoise as a remedy, instead of soy? All nutrition is

based on vibration, of course, so pure vibrations would be a faster remedy?

Eh?

I'm hoping that more and more people will start getting " it " , so we can

start talking about how to really heal, instead of all these red herrings,

like soy. Who cares about soy, when the rest of your body is going to

rot? This is my point. While this list rants on and on about nutrition,

the body is starved for VIBRATION.

Disease ONLY starts in the ABSENCE of sustainable vibrations. Not because

of the lack of this or that vitamin therapy which is really just based on

it's vibration.

Our self-healing body is sustained by RESONANCE, not by soy/milk decisions,

ad nauseaum.

Has anyone on this list read the book, Secrets of the Soil?

Warmly,

Moe

No, THIS is not true. Tempe (fermented product) is THE traditional national food

of Indonesia (especially Java) -- it's where it was invented.

Simon, read my message carefully. Tofu is not fermented, tempe is. Both are

eaten daily by most Indonesians. All I have to do is walk out my door and

look around- I'm in Indonesia right now!

Er...read MINE carefully :) I know tempeh (Western spelling) is the fermented

product -- that's what i said.

What I am picking you up on is whether Indonesians tend to eat more tofu or

tempeh; you may see 'em eating tofu; what I'm saying is that tempeh -- and other

fermented soy foods -- is the traditional and preferred soy food in Indonesia.

The context of this is that I'm agreeing with Bob; soy as traditionally eaten

tends to be in various fermented forms.

Like Bob, I have great reservations about the health benefits for Westerners of

eating vast amounts of refined and/or unfermented soy, such as soy oil and

tofu, which the soybean marketing agencies want us to do.

Of course, " Indonesia " is a massive area, so I wouldn't necessarily extrapolate

from what I could see outside my front door if I was in Indonesia -- it may not

be typical.

According to the USDA, soy (largely tempeh AND tofu) accounts for about 15% of

protein consumption in Indonesia; the soy marketers would have us believe that

Indonesians, Chinese and Japanese eat little else.

Simon.

PS:

What I find really weird is that Indonesia's climate doesn't allow it to grow

enough of its own traditional foods: the area imports hundreds of millions of

dollars worth of soy beans and soy meal every year -- from the US.

I lived in Bali 11 years, and I would say in Bali it's about even. Of

course different families have different preferences, but most families eat

both throughout the week. Although tempe is usually found on the buffet

table at holidays and ceremonies and tofu not tofu is available daily as a

snack from street vendors that wander the neighborhoods.. In Java, I

haven't eaten with many families like I have in Bali, but at the warungs

and rumah makan ( equivalent of greasy-spoon diners) both are available and

served with rice.

over the course of our 11 years here we have travelled extensively. I

haven't seen it all, but i have seen a lot. We are fluent in Indonesian, so

when we do travel, we interact with locals. Also, I am acquainted with

people from many islands because Bali is ( or was before the bomb) one of

the few areas with a booming economy and many people from other ethnic

groups have moved here. Most ethic groups of Indonesia eat tempe and tofu,

if they can afford it. a very big if. It's more a factor of javanese

influence than individual ethnic group traditions. In areas where the

javanese have had influence over the course of the last 1000 years, or

recently via military and government installations, it is available and

locally produced. In areas such as Irian Jaya/ West Papuan where Javanese

influence has been minimal, it's rarely seen except in areas with residents

of other ethnic groups.

I would say many families,( based on what i see in bali) eat tempe, tofu,

fish and eggs as they're main sources of protein, with chicken, duck and

pork ( in Hindu areas) reserved for special occasions. the extended family

i live with is middle class, and eat meat once or twice a week. 15% would

be an average, with many people eating none, and many eating far more.

As for myself, I like goat's yogurt and goat's cheese. I also like deep water

fatty fish especially salmon.

How about legumes and sprouted legumes. Try whole tahina (sesami butter) or

almond butter, or many other kind of nuts. All of the above are great sources of

protein and tasty as well. weeeeeel... at least to my palate. (-;

Lea,

If it's any comfort, this IS confusing (but hang in there anyways)... My

wife has ovarian cancer; I have been reading about cancer treatments (mostly

alternative methods) for a number of years now, and I've found a lot of

contradictions along the way. I keep looking for " common threads " to follow.

For example, I believe everyone agrees that refined sugar is definitely

harmful in many ways. Most discourage dairy products. Organic vegetables are

high on the list. And so on...

I personally like the " vibrational " theories that are mentioned in many

different ways. There's something to that, I'm sure. It's simple in one

aspect, yet it's complicated when you try to pin it down and measure it,

quantify it, etc...

My suggestion is to keep looking and pay attention to things that " make

sense " (intuitively?) and look for those things that are common to all the

successful approaches...

Because most of us are on very restricted diets, it does become frustrating

and confusing. Nevertheless, I believe that we have to consume soy

judiciously. Instead of soy milk, you can have almond milk. Because almond

milk sold in stores has so much sugar, I began to make my own – very easy

and very delicious. Here is the recipe for those who want to try it for

themselves.

1/2 c organic raw almonds

1 tbsp fortified flaxseeds

1tsp lecithin granules

1/8 tsp almond extract

3 c warm water

stevia to sweeten

Grind the almonds and flaxseeds to a fine powder

Add all ingredients to the blender and liquefy (I always add some liquid to

blender first as the powdered stuff gets into the seal)

You then strain the liquid separating the almond meal from the liquid. (you

can freeze the meal and add it to your baking). The almond milk stays fresh

in the fridge for three days.

I heard one doctor on a tape say, “Trust yourself and you will instinctively

know what you should eat”. Metabolically, we are all individuals – one

thing is good for one and harmful to another. Eat a little soy – choose the

less compromising fermented type and vary the diet you have chosen to adopt.

Ten months ago, I was put on a vegan diet. It was so limited (we were not

allowed to eat fruit either because of the fructose) – but I heard the

protocol person say something about goat milk and goat cheese. I asked

about it and he said I could include it in my diet – but in small amounts.

So I do. I enjoy feta cheese made out of goat or sheep milk. And when I

absolutely need a desert, I create delicious tapioca pudding (no eggs

though). Here is a recipe for that tool

Tapioca Pudding

2 1/3 cups goat milk (not lowfat)

4 tblsp quick cooking tapioca **

1 ½ tsp egg replacer and 1 tblsp water

1 ½ tsp stevia

¾ tsp vanilla

Mix the egg replacer, water and stevia together. Put the milk, tapioca, and

egg replacer in a saucepan – let it stand for 5 minutes then cook on medium

heat, stirring regularly. When it comes to a full boil, remove from heat

and stir in vanilla.

This recipe comes from the kitchen of Orgler (the wife of miracle

patient Dave).

Anybody want Carob Zucchini and/or Pumpkin muffin recipes – let me know.

Gubi – I have included all of these in my diet too since getting off the

completely vegan diet I was on for 10 months. They are very enjoyable

sources of protein.

You may enjoy the tapioca pudding recipe I inserted in another e-mail of
