You're really not taking any chances by not doing it. The likelihood of him

being exposed to any of that is minuscule. (Especially since most of those

around him -- I presume -- are immunized.)

We didn't get the boosters for my son. Our doctor has something ready for Kenny

at his office if he should step on a nail or otherwise be at risk for tetanus,

but since this is a kid who never gets hurt in the first place, I'm not giving

it a second thought.

I do have an exemption from Dr. Bradstreet whom is doing the IVIG. It is

just that Philip's main pediatrician on this coast wants him to have it. I

hate to switch but will if it means having to give him something unsafe. I

am just looking for opinions. I don't want him to get sick from not getting

them either.

I forgot to mention another thing. Philip threw up this morning before going

to the doctor. She still wanted me to give him his DT and polio today. I

just don't understand. He had his first MMR at 15 months after just getting

off antibiotics and he still had a cold. They told me it was ok as long as

he was not running a fever. At 16 months I knew something was wrong. I have

had his titers checked and he is immune to all, with his measles being 3x's

what they need to be. He is having IVIG to help with auto antibodies to the

myelin and she still wants to give him the MMR after the IVIG is done. She

just doesn't think there is any connection. Unfortunatley, she has been

great about authorizing any test or therapy I needed done. I can always get

into her office right away if the kids are sick. It is hard to change

peoples minds once they are set on something being safe.

I'm having a problem here. You believe your child had a problem with vaccines

and you are worried about what your doctor wants. Who's the parent here. Do

you really want to give your child another vaccine at this time. Maybe you

should take sometime to really think this through. Goodluck. Carole

Sorry...I'm in a state of aggravation right now!!! The reason I said that

was because my son suffered a MASSIVE regression after finishing off his

boosters for Kindergarten. Despite the screaming, regression (which ended up

being a loss of over 1 1/2 years of hard-earned skills from 4 years of ABA),

throwing himself on the floor, diarrhea, loss of toileting skills, etc, etc.

....I was told by a pediatric immunologist that " Of all the stories I've heard

from parents of autistic children which might link their autism to vaccines,

your's is the most convincing...BUT THE THEORY IS NOT PROVEN " So I ended up

waiting two months for this " professional "

opinion on a messed up immune panel with Rubella titers 10X the normal high

level (which he said he's seen before and it just means he's immune) and once

again came away with no help for my hurting little boy. I get

frustrated...so please forgive my last post!!!!!

Carole is right. It is supposed to be a doctor-patient relationship, not a

codependent doormat relationship (which is what MD's are apparently trained

Your kidding right? Say you will not give him anymore until they prove

it is my understanding that the MBP antibodies are due to the measles. The

measle antibody and the MBP antibody closely resemble eachother, and the body

confuses the two and starts making the antibodies against the MBP. I would

DEFINATELY not give MMR again, especially after spending all the money on the

IVIG to correct this. They are seeing a 98% recovery from doing IVIG for

this.I'd be finding me another doc or none at all if need be.

think about this for a minute. How many people have you ever heard of dying

from Measles? How many have you heard of with autism? My sister, brother and

I had each of these illnesses as children and we're still here. I'm not

saying there is no chance a child will die from these, but the chances are

slim to none when you compare it to the risk of autism. Carole

Almost none of the other nonvaccinated kids do. What are the CDC statistics

vaccines really won't give you great immunity from CHILDHOOD illnesses.

They say they will, they lied, look at any website on vaccines like think

twice, that will get you going.

I agree with Carole, particularly since your son already had the vaccines.

The additional vaccines are designed to catch the 5% who didn't get immunity

from the first ones.

My boys, with one MMR each, are above immunity levels on measles (way above

for my autistic son) and an additional booster in all likelihood would have

severely worsened their situation. We did titers instead of boosters for

little brother before kindergarten, and waivers for the Hep.

They clearly didn't know all that was to be known, when they started these

vaccination programs. I am darn tired of what amounts to experimentation on

my children. Children died of polio, and perhaps the risk is worth it

there. But did one out of 150 die of the rest?

you should look up side effects of DPT and IV vaccines, make an INFORMED

choice try www.van.org.uk/ -OR- www.909 shot.com ,

also look up the vaccines side effects / contraindications(which

individuals should NOT have the vaccine/s proposed)in the phycisians desk

reference, (US)

A.B.P.I. compendium (UK)

you could also seriously consider asking your doctor to fully check your

sons

antibody titres, it could well be that he's already immune; your doctor

should not refuse to do this.

I do hope hope this helps you, at the end of the day the decision is yours

don't be bullied or badgered your son is your priority.

p.s. if you're in the usa there are religous, philosophical and medical

exemptions

Best wishes,

margaret.

Kathi,

Wow! 98% recovery with IVIG...is this the high dose version. That

statistic sounds a lot higher than what Gupta talks about. Can you share

more please!? Do you know what the dosage is?

We're seriously considering IVIG in the next couple months...

Thanks a bunch,

Dr. Gupta published a paper on IVIG and autism in the Journal of Autism

and Developmental Disorders in 1996- Vol 26, No 4, pg 439. It was a

study on only 10 kids. He rated the improvements 1 to 4 (4=high) one kid

had a 4, 4 kids had a 3, and 5 kids had a 1('minimal' improvement). The

protocol was 400 mg/kg at 4 week intervals for 6 months.

I think some docs are doing 'high dose' IVIG now, which I think is around

double the dosage and they are having better success.

I don't know any good websites...

I was under the impression that only one child had " recovered " after IVIG

and that child had had a lot of other therapies as well. Goldenburg's

son. I would be curious to hear of other " recoveries " from IVIG.

This recovery rate is what Dr. Jeff Bradstreet in Palm Bay is finding, he is

using Dr. Jane ElDahr's protocol. It is an Autism Research Center. He

presented his findings at the Irvine confrence. My son has been a top

responder with IVIG, and we are using high dose.(5)I know they are having

great success with it.
