My daughter who is almost 13 had droopy upper eyelids and her lower

lids pulled out away from her eyes. As her head continued to grow her

lids pulled out even more. She had her first surgury to correct the

upper and lower lids when she was 14 months old. But the more I read

the more I feel that We should have waited. We didn't find out about

BPES until this year so for me I thought the doctors knew what they

were doing. My daughter still looks different and she is open to

talking about her eyes and her eye surgery with her peers in school.

She has been wearing glasses since she was 3 and likes to wear them.

Also, with her surgery she has keyloids which is thick scar tissue.

So her lower lids have severe scars on them because the doctors took

skin from behind her ear and placed the skin under her eyes, which

caused severe scarring. We did not know she had keyloids until this

surgery.
