From: Joe Priestly seawolf46fla@... NEWS RELEASE Wednesday, March 21, 2001 ORIGINATOR: ph R. Priestley, LCDR, USN (Retired), Sponsor of Second Annual Muster 2001. Member, Grass Roots Groups-Panama City, Florida, and member of the American Veterans Party. Joe Priestley, a resident of Panama City, Florida, a WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War veteran, and a retired/disabled " mustang " U.S. Naval Aviator, with 24 years of enlisted and commissioned Naval service, has announced that he has received his Event Permit from the U. S. Capitol Police to conduct a muster of veterans on May 29, 2001, at the Upper Senate Park just across Constitution Avenue, north of the U.S. Capitol Building. The purpose of the Muster is to peacefully petition the 107th. Congress to speedily pass legislation which will restore full, first-class citizenship to all of America's military. The event will commence at 10:00 a.m., with our National Anthem, followed by The Pledge of Allegiance, followed by the Chaplain's invocation. A short welcome address will be given by Mr. priestley, who will then introduce the Honored Guest Speaker, Mr. Phil Alperson, Legislative Director for Congressman Ronnie Shows (rhymes with vows), of Mississippi, who has introduced Bill HR 179 in the 107th. Congress. This Bill, if passed, will give military retirees the option of selecting the Federal Employees Health Benefit Plan (at no cost), as an alternative to the TriCare for Life plan which was passed by the 106th. Congress, which is full of holes like Swiss cheese, according to Mr. Priestley. Mr. Alperson's speech will be followed by short speeches by the attending veterans. Afterward, there will be a brief " demonstration march-around " with demonstration placards for purposes of print and electronic media news coverage. The finale on the Muster Site will be a symbolic military funeral, with flag-draped coffin and appropriate music. This is in memory of all of the millions of military retirees and other veterans who have died while waiting for justice from our government. The Muster participants will then visit the offices of their congresspersons and senators to present written accounts of their medical care financial burdens which were caused by the actions of The Congress on June 7th., 1956, as well as petitions gathered in their home states and districts. My very best regards, /s/ ph R. Priestley http://www.geocities.com/seawolf46usa2001
