Guest guest
Hi, Our daughter(only one in family with BPES) was diagnosed with far-sightedness and bad stigmatism at 3. No one else in the family has the far sightedness at all. Dtr thought it was related, but guess what’s important is that we got it detected early and she is fine with glasses now. (Straps on the glasses really helped)! blepharophimosis Question about long-sightedness Our 11 month old son, , has been diagnosed long-sighted and is going to try glasses. We have been assured that this isn't linked to his BPES but just wondered if anyone else had experience of this and of glasses on such a young child. Also, we have now been given an appointment for a second opinion with Mr Collin at Moorfields. Has anyone else got any recent experience with him? Our surgeon in Manchester (who is well-respected and experienced) has recommended brow suspension but not surgery for the folds as he feels it is likely to create scarring and that it's too early to predict how the nasal bridge might develop and pull out the folds naturally. We'd really appreciate any feedback. Thanks!
Guest guest
Hi Vicky I just wanted to assure you that, without any doubt, Mr Collin is one of the leading ocular plastic surgeons. He has plenty of experience treating people with BPES. Also, he is absolutely amazing with people under his care, especially very little people. Many people in this group have been lucky to be treated by him. Rest assured, you are taking to see the right person. Guest guest
Hi. My daughter has BPES and she started wearing glasses at age two. She has far sightedness (plus 4 in both eyes) and a stigmatism in one eye. She may have needed them earlier, but she never received the eye test where the doctor drops liquid in her eyes before age two. By the time she was five and after her sling surgury she didn't want to wear the glasses anymore. A doctor did many tests on her and found that she can now make her eyes focus, although she is still far sighted. So, perhaps wearing glasses so early helped her focus? She did not want to wear them when she was little. I think I kept telling her how pretty she looked in them and gave her rewards for wearing them. _________________________________________________________________ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger! Guest guest
Hi All My daughter Rylee (pics under Rylee Ruby) has had glasses since 6 months old. She has had no problems with them and wears them all the time. The eye doctor also said that her wearing glasses does not have anything to do with the BPES. fall3005 <fall3005@...> wrote: Hi Vicky, My little Granson Alfie has Just got Glasses and he is only Five month old ..but he is doing Fine up to now only had them 2 weeks.love June (warrington.
