Guest guest
List: The National Enquirer wrote on page 16 of their October 9th issue (column 4): " ...but the Justice Dept. source also revealed to The ENQUIRER that Bin Laden has gotten his hands on the smallpox virus... " Now there is something to create pure panic!!!!! Of the tabloid papers, the Enquirer usually goes to some real effort not to report pure garbage (no aliens standing next to the president). They have actually scooped a few stories. Therefore, this item is more apt to be believed by it's readers. It would be better if the Star or Globe had said this, since they are loaded with obvious lies anyway. I haven't read anywhere else that anyone in the region really had it, only that it was a fear that they might one day acquire smallpox. An example of some creative writing? **ABC still reports the usual on the Smallpox topic: " the only known samples of the virus exist under top security in the United States and Russia.. " **So, what pharmaceutical company does the good old Enquirer work for, or is this garbage just a freebie for the impact? Guest guest
HI Val Have heard that SHAs will be gone if Conservatives win the election and I think they are preparing for that. Margaret Have I missed something? Ben Gummer, prospective conservative candidate, for Ipswich was at church this morning . He was introduced from the from the front and talked of working with community groups . He was then available to talk to anyone over coffee after the service. In response to me asking about health visitors he said they had already announced there will be more money for health visitors as some was being with drawn from Sure Start. When the medics moved in he said that strategic health authorities would go. Unclear if he was telling conservative policy or I have missed something earlier Val Thurtle
Guest guest
Hi ValYes, the conservatives have committed to another 4200 health visitors, which they initially said would be paid for by cutting Sure Start outreach workers. I think they have got a bit clearer in their thinking about costs, and recruitment difficulties, since then. Their policy green paper, which came out in January, still has the 4200 commitment in, and a lot to say about public health.
