Guest guest
I hear the peppermint essential oil is good for headaches. And is probably not contraindicated by nursing. Just another option you can investigate. And remember, only PURE non-adulterated oil. Kathleen

As an aromatherapist and breastfeeding counsellor, can I please point out two things? Use of peppermint oil on a long-term basis can, over a period of time, reduce milk supply. It has antigalactagoguic properties. I don't know the age of the nursing baby here, but use of peppermint oil has also resulted in documented cases of reflex apnoea in very young babies. I personally would not use it near a young baby. Not a definite contra- indication, but reason to be *very* careful with its use. Lavender oil is good for headaches, as is Roman Chamomile, and these are far gentler than peppermint. *Any* essential oil should be good quality and pure. If I am jumping in here and am way out of line, I'm sorry - maybe members could remember to leave the original post intact, or at least the original subject line so the thread can be followed back? Love, light and peace, Sue
