Guest guest
Hello lovely people Just thought I'll share my daughters experience on the 20th of Feb 06. Both girls went in on the same day for 2 different procedures. Mayowa for a brow suspenson. The results are fantastic, no scarring, not much swelling and recovery is fast. She still has the canthoplasty to come when she is about 15 or 16 years old. (it is delayed bcos of an operation she had earlier via my local hospital which was not successful and left her with thick scars) Tina had a YV canthoplasty. I was warned that she might have scars, the results are brilliant, the scars are not visible yet( I think they will be minimal if any) her eyes are definately wider recovery is fast and she is already jumping around the house. She will go back for a brow suspenson in 6 mnths and that hopefully will be the last surgery. Surgery was by Mr Yaser Abu-Rayah. He did a great job. The aftercare has been great the nurses still speak to me everyday about the girls recovery. We are heading back in a few days. For anyone considering surgery at moorfields, I will say you are in good hands, they have an excellent team and plenty of experience. Thanks to everyone in this group, I went thru about 2000 past messages b4 surgery and all the inputs prepared me. A massive thanks to Shireen and Clare Teale for everything. God bless you all. Guest guest
I am so glad to hear the girls did so well! We go in today for Micah's 1 yr post-op check and I can't wait to see what the doctor says. I so appreciate hearing everyone's experiences with surgery, doctors, etc. :)April --- joyceibitoye <joyceaibitoye@...> wrote: > Hello lovely people > > Just thought I'll share my daughters experience on > the 20th of Feb > 06. Guest guest
Hi Joyce I think - but I am not sure - that this is the first time that we have heard about 2 people in the same family have ops on the same day. Am I right in this, group? Guest guest
Hi Joyce, what fantastic news, Im so pleased everything went so well. and the girls are recovering quickly. Good luck for your check up (even though you wont need it). You are a very strong lady, taking both of your girls for operations and supporting each of them through every step. A hugh well done to all 3 of you. Loads of love as always clare tealejoyceibitoye <joyceaibitoye@...> wrote: Hello lovely peopleJust thought I'll share my daughters experience on the 20th of Feb 06. Guest guest
Hi Joyce Thank you for giving us all an update and it is so good to hear everything went well for Mayowa and Tina. Give them a big hug from us. It is good to hear how the experiences were at Moorfields because Holly has her first temporary eye lift in May there and it is good to hear feedback. I can't wait to meet you again at the next get-together to see how great the girls look. Take care of yourselves Love Lucy, Garry and Holly, Hampshire UKjoyceibitoye <joyceaibitoye@...> wrote: Hello lovely peopleJust thought I'll share my daughters experience on the 20th of Feb 06. Guest guest
My two sons both had their lids lifted on the same day right after one another...worked out great for us ...although the surgeon thought we were nuts. She thought it would be harder on us, nope it was much easier than doing them a week apart. Guest guest
> Hello lovely people > Dear Joyce, This is my first time posting anything on here, I am a new member. I am reading, reading, as you said you did to help you get your head around all of this. My 3.9 yr. old Ella is on the waiting list for Dr. Chang (has anyone heard of him) in Leeds. The more I read, I wonder how fast I need to make an appointment at Moorlands?! I am really glad that your surgery went well with your girls. We were told that Ella would do best with surgery between 3.5 and 5 to make sure her cranial bones were well formed and tissue was available from her own body. She had a brow lift at 4 months old and her vision is good. We're at the point where we are gathering information, its great to see this site! I am amazed at the great support amongst families and people all with BPES. We just met another lovely family that lives about 5 blocks from us, our daughers are 1 month apart. Amazing! God Bless you! Suzanne Heatwole > Just thought I'll share my daughters experience on the 20th of Feb > 06. Guest guest
hi Clare Thanks for your support. Our check up went well and we are back to moorfields in 6 weeks. The girls are doing so well. Say hello to your Emy and mum. Take care Joyce
Guest guest
Hi Suzanne and Ella Welcome to the group. Thanks for your message. I have not heard of Dr Chang, but perhaps other UK people have. Ask Shireen, she tends to know quite a lot. (andybowles). I think, to go to Moorfields you need to be referred by your GP. That's how a lot of people do it. Check if DR Chang is familiar with blepharophimosis. If not then try all you can to see them at moorfields. Hopefully we will all meet up at one of the uk meetings. Take care Joyce Mayowa and Tina
