My surgeon still uses natural fascia lata but is one of the few still

doing so, and sometimes has trouble getting " donor " (cadaver) material

from the tissue bank - they keep it only for him. He thinks it's more

reliable than silicone, but I didn't press him on the details.

JUst my opinion from speaking to our doctors i would never use my kids own tissue...i would use the silicone. I am upset the have eye scars never mind leg scars too. Again you know me ...i care about everyones kids and respect everyones choices...that is just my opinion. bethgordon03 <bethgordon03@...> wrote: Thanks RobThis is basically what both doctors said, one from s Hopkins and on from Children's Hospital, Wash., DC. The doctor at Hopkins uses cadaver tissue so he doesn't have to extract from the leg, the other at Children's uses the child's own tissue to avoid any type of disease or infection that could be "unknown" in the cadaver. I can understand both of their reasoning. I really dislike the idea of the incision and scar on the leg, but as of now we are going to go with her

own tissue. We trust her doctor and this is what he typically does. Unless something changes in the next few years. It's confusing to me sometimes. I never had slings so I can't compare my own results. thank you againBeth Well we went to the Dr's > >>> >>yesterday for Jordan 2 week check post surgery > >>> >>>and it went really well. I agree. Mine has lasted close to 40 years so far.

I have no leg scars to worry about, as my slings are from 'donor'

(cadaver) fascia lata tissue.

My ptosis repair scars are just above the upper edge of the brows, but

they're generally hidden by the bushier hairs. Visible if I look for

them, though. Ageing helps, as the scars (they're horizontal of course)

get lost among the increasing forehead wrinkles!

Sorry, I don't know. Interesting question, though.

Sharon, You mention kids' own tissue and silicone, but how do you feel

about donor fascia lata? I see that option is missing from your opinion.
