Guest guest
According to http://www.health.state.nm.us/website.nsf/c893def3c36b22738725676000514a8e/a 0cb094d2855b9b1872567430064b95e?OpenDocument, and http://www.bu.edu/bridge/archive/2001/02-02/health.html, antibiotics are effective but only if given at the beginning of the illness before the cough becomes established. I remember reading that high doses of vitamin C reduce the duration of pertussis Could you provide the reference for antibiotics not being proven effective for pertussis so I can read further? Thanks, Yes, i would also be interested, kim. one cannot but learn enough about all this. boy! kim

Inactivated whole-cell vaccines are highly effective, but occasionally cause toxic side effects. Acellular vaccines with fewer side effects have been licensed for booster vaccination and will possibly be also licensed for primary vaccination. http://gsbs.utmb.edu/microbook/ch031.htm People concerned about becoming infected can take sodium ascorbate instead of the antibiotics. And ofcourse those already infected NEED the vitC to neutralize the toxins created by the bacteria. Guest guest
http://www.spokanecounty.org/health/CA/epi/Pertussis/common-questions.htm " My child is receiving antibiotics. Why isn’t he/she getting better? Antibiotic therapy will reduce the infectiousness of pertussis. Unfortunately, antibiotics will not reduce the severity of the illness. It may take up to 6 weeks for the symptoms to completely go away. " http://www.doh.wa.gov/topics/pertussis.htm What can be done to prevent the spread of pertussis? The single most effective control measure is maintaining the highest possible level of immunization in the community. Anyone who comes into close contact with a person who has pertussis should receive antibiotics to prevent spread of the disease. Treatment of cases with certain antibiotics such as erythromycin can shorten the contagious period. People who have or may have pertussis should stay away from young children and infants until properly treated. They think it can reduce the contagiousness - it is not treating your child and changing the course of pertussis in your child. Homeopathy and Vitamin C.
