Guest guest
The following letter is what I sent to of Senator levin's office. Just strat at the bottom and work up...... , I sent you the e-mail the Dvorak sent me late Friday afternoon. Please help me understand a few things. Four Col’s and SMSgt Med Tech sat around and decided that I should not go to Walter as " I requested " . I had been seen by 2 " competent " military doctors, and they determined that I had not had a reaction to the anthrax shots. My civilian physician instructed me not to continue to receive the Anthrax vaccine because I had a reaction to the shot. This advice came after a thorough physical including blood work and other tests. The Calhoun County Health department filed an adverse reaction form because of the symptoms I explained to them after I received the 4th shot in March they told me not to receive any more of the shots. And why did the base alter my shot record and when they ordered its return and I didn’t return it, they made a new one with different information in it. When the 110FW sent me a certified letter ordering me to receive my 5th shot (even though I was to retire) Deb contacted Walter AMC. Dr. Engler had a treatment for people to take prior to the anthrax shot if you had experienced a reaction. Deb spoke with Dr. of the Allergy Clinic at Walter , Dr. Renata Engler was out. He asked Deb about my symptoms and she explained them. He told her then (Sep 7th) that I could not have had the flu for a year as the " competent " Air Force doctors have told me. The " competent " doctors never ran a test on me. They did talk the company line. My point is I did not request to go to Walter . Dr. (2nd in charge) asked that I be sent there for a full military examination. As I explained in my earlier e-mail, Dr. Engler wanted to be there when I was examined. I past this on to Col Seidel and you have the results. Four Colonels at the 110th FW can sit in a room and decide that I need no further attention. I am glad to see the management at the base is receiving their anthrax shots. Maybe when a year goes by and they are still having diarrhea and the sweats the enlisted members might be heard. I helped supervise a bike hike this past weekend (Sep 25th) for the Boy Scouts and wouldn’t you know it the diarrhea returned just in time. It’s hard to plan your life around a bathroom (or lack of one). tom Your Request for Appointment at Walter Army Hospital Tom, I have met with Col Heaton, Col Seidel, LTC and SMS Keller to discuss your request to be scheduled for an appointment at Walter Army Medical Center. You were seen by Dr. Walchner, an allergist, at the Medical Facility at AFB, OH, on 9 Apr 99. At that time, he determined that your reactions were not systemic and do not warrant exemption from the anthrax vaccine. On 7 May 99, you were seen by Dr. , from the Force Health Protection and Surveillance Branch, at AFB, TX during his visit at Battle Creek to follow-up with personnel that had received the anthrax vaccine from the 110th Logistics Squadron. His assessment was that your symptoms do not show a pattern of signs or symptoms that are known to be associated with the anthrax or any other vaccine. You have been seen by two competent medical authorities that determined that your symptoms do not preclude you for doing your job and you are considered world-wide qualified. Therefore, we are not recommending your referral to the Walter Army Medical Center. You may pick up a copy of the SF600 entry that is in your medical record for future use from SMS Keller. If there are any problems/symptoms you are experiencing, proof of incapacitation, or medical bills over $1,000 that could be related to the anthrax vaccine that are not documented in the medical records you should provide that to SMS Keller.
