Guest guest
When my son was born 7 weeks ago, the nurse in the Hosp. was relieved that I chose not to circumcise or do Hep B. It was less work for her! When my mother was visiting me and this particular nurse was in the room, mom mentioned cleanliness and problems with uncircumcised penis. As it turns out, the nurse's husband is intact, because he wasn't expected to live at birth, and surprised everyone and lived, so he never got circ'd. She said that he has absolutely no problems, wasn't teased, etc. I also read reacently that only 60% of boys are circ'd, so that leaves 40% uncirced - the numbers are growing! A friend of mine didn't circ her son who is about 4 months old now, so I know my son will have a cohort in school if it should come down to teasing, but I don't think it will. Dh is circ'd and had concerns about teasing, and his dad is intact! He said its ugly, but I think that it is just a symbol to him of a whole lot of other issues with his Dad, who is a miserable, rude, demeaning, alcoholic (though DH would never admit he has issues with his Dad). I know there are religious reasons for circ.'ing Jewish boys, something about a " Covenant of God " , does anybody know the story? I'm just curious why God would think cutting off a piece of a boy's penis makes him closer to God?
