that is what they said on 60 minutes a few years ago - the one with

Wakefield. They do not think parents will bring their kids back when they

actually NEED the shots (like if the newness of your kid wears off then you

wont be getting him/her proper medical care anymore). well, we are

certianly taking them back to the doctor more now, aren't we?

I am SO DISGUSTED! I felt bad for walking far for NAAR earlier this

month before I knew any better ... now I am sick over it. I am writing

to them today to tell them how much I regret my involvement with them.

Dr. Shih was saying that the funding was up to Congress, but what

about NAAR? They FUND RESEARCH!

Montel gave Dr. Shih a good grilling at least. And I agree about the

looks exchanged on stage. I think if I were a new mom, I'd be asking

lots of questions. That's one really good thing that will come of this

show.

Maybe you, as a former NAAR supporter, should send packets of information to

the current NAAR walk organizers and see if they know what you know now....

Great idea. I wonder if they will read it, though. I've met lots of

the people in the " playing the hand I'm dealt " camp, and the wall goes

up immediately. Why is that? Wouldn't it be a little reassuring to

know that something CAUSED the " autism " and that maybe something can

be done about it? I don't understand it. Why not at least listen? Why

argue that nothing can be done unless we find *the gene*?

Like everyone on this list, I'll do my best to change minds one at a

time. I work with someone who has a PhD in pharmacology but who

converted to another discipline after her harrowing post-doc

experience ... I gave her the Kennedy article and she was very vocal

about it to others in my dept. EOH will land on her desk later today.

well, as a parent, would you have read it? :) You cannot make them believe

it but you can give them the tools to do so.

why do people give up/in to autism? I bet that is a varied answer but I

have heard things like " my doctor told me to let it go, so i did " , " there is

no cure so why bother with all the fuss and go broke " , " I just want to have

as normal of a life as I can " , " that seems like alot of work " , " I'm too

tired to mess with it " , " I tried it for 2 weeks and he wasn't cured so i

gave it up " and others.

none are good enough. this is your kid. you fight to the death for them.

period.

Holly, you are so right. AMEN. And---not only are we fighting to the death for our own kids, we are also fighting for all those other people's kids--even the ones who think we're nuts.

actually, at this point, other than raise money, they have done less than

NAAR. They have not funded one study - not even a bad one, that i could

find on their site. They have a new president. woo. Bob got an

award (on the backs of our kids). His wife visited a school. woo. they

got $156,000 from on-line donations alone. they have a bunhc of fundraisers

coming up for raise even more money. woo.

NAAR, like the government, is more concerned with the greater good than with our kids.

Why is the lead scientist from NAAR more concerned about public health vs. the health of autistic kids??Jenn

OOOOPPS - It airs at 3 pm here - I did not realize the show was on

twice. And I apologize....My wife reminded me that " screwed " is not a

very nice word in this context.

's segment was for the first half hour. She did a great job. She

told the story about how her child was born and had a ton of problems- and

the doctors just said " go home and wait for her to die " . Instead she tried

hyperbarics- and her daughter got better. Montel kept saying that if

doctors had all the answers, no one would get sick. He also said you should

always get a second opinion. It was a great story about a mom who wouldn't

give up. was so open about her experiences and crying- it was very

moving. I'm sure she helped a lot of people.

The show did not air in my town. Inverness, Fl. It was a rerun of the SYLVIA

BROWNE. What do I do to see it? Help. I'm so mad. I taped it and thats not the

show.

this has happened before-they show something different in other states-my sister in NJ often gets different Montel shows than I do on the same day. Mchristine <christine@...> wrote: WTF?
