Guest guest
Bioport's share value today is 10.35. The stock has lost over 1/6th its value since the IPO was held only 4 weeks ago. Is Bioport worth the $500 million El Hibri set as its current value? Well, the cost of one dose of anthrax vaccine rose from about $2.25 per dose to $24.00 per dose since 1998. Not bad, a tenfold increase. Bioport has contracts with DOD and HHS for nearly $500 million for vaccine for the military and civilian stockpiles. On the other hand, even if this poison was free, how many people would take it voluntarily? How much protection, if any, will it provide for weaponized anthrax strains selected for virulence against Americans? No one knows. Even the Army has a policy to immediately give antibiotics to troops exposed to anthrax, even when fully immunized. We know the antibiotics are extremely effective when given soon after exposure, based on those exposed to the anthrax letters, and treated before becoming severely ill. Let the buyer beware. God help the inoculees. Meryl Meryl Nass, MD Mount Desert Island Hospital Bar Harbor, Maine 04609 207 288-5081 ext.
