Guest guest
My sons medicaid payed for his surgery. When the surgeon's office sent for approval, medicaid sent a letter back saying that prior approval wasn't needed for his surgery. I'm not sure how medicaid can pay for one and not another. Guest guest
Dawn-Marie, I live in Ohio. When the surgeon said that it was a go for surgery i went to the surgery coordinator. This was in May. She told me that getting approval from medicaid took along time. She said that it has to go to the board of directors, but that they only view 10 cases a month. Not sure if it was 10 cases of any type of surgery or what. The surgeon wanted to see my son back in July unless the surgery was before that, so in July we went back and she had called me a few days prior to his appt. and told me that the surgery was approved. When i went to the appt. she gave me a paper from medicaid that said it was approved, but that surgery of this type didn't need prior approval. This was after his bday which was July 22, so it took close to 3 months to get approval from medicaid, and he didn't even need approval according to the letter medicaid had sent. Which surgery is this? Hope that answered your question. If not email again and i'll do my best to answer.

Guest guest
Hi: I had trouble with my insurance approving it also. They reviewed the records but never saw pictures. Once they saw pictures of my daughter, it was approved very quickly. I'm not sure if you are trying to prove medical necessity or not, but that's what our fight was about.
