Guest guest Posted August 31, 2001 Report Share Posted August 31, 2001 Dear group members, I am writing to inform you that the India-Canada Collaborative HIV/AIDS Project (ICHAP) is seeking qualified applicants for a number of technical and administrative positions for our Bangalore office. ICHAP is an HIV/AIDS prevention project that is funded by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). It is being implemented by three Canadian institutions, the University of Manitoba, ProAction-Partners for Community Health, and Mascen Consultants. The project is based in the States of Karnataka and Rajasthan. The Bangalore-based technical positions for which we are recruiting include: - Assistant Project Coordinator. - Community-based Program Specialist - Communications Specialist - Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist - Surveillance and Epidemiology Specialist - Planning and Evaluation Specialist. Responsibilities of the Assistant Project Coordinator include helping to establish a project office, supervising technical staff and consultants, and co-ordinating external and local project inputs. Responsibilities of the other specialists include providing technical support to governmental, non-governmental and academic institutions involved in HIV/AIDS prevention and care activities. Post-graduate degree in a health or development-related discipline, with at least five years of experience in relevant health projects. Experience in working with government and non-governmental organizations is important, as is fluency in Kannada and English, with excellent communication skills. Experience in the HIV/AIDS field is an asset. The administrative positions are: - Financial Officer - Office Administrator Responsibilities of the Financial Officer include finances, accounting and administration. Responsibilities of the Administrative Officer include general office management and administration, supervision and coordination for office support staff, logistics support for technical staff, procurement, and maintenance of Project resource materials. The Financial Officer should be a qualified CA/CFA with a post-graduate degree in finance or related discipline from a recognized institution, with a minimum of 8-10 of experience in heading financial operations and 4-5 years of experience in developmental and social sector accounting. The Administrative Officer should be a dynamic individual with a university degree and demonstrated administrative and organizational skills. The incumbent should also have hands-on knowledge of office set-up and supervision, with good logistics and negotiation skills. For both positions experience in working with government and non-governmental organizations is important, as is fluency in Kannada and English. Excellent communication skills and good computer skills are desired. Experience in the HIV/AIDS field is an asset. These positions were advertised in the Times of India (Wednesday, August 29 edition), and the Deccan Herald on the same day.
