Guest guest
Hi there Terri & Bob, My name is . I'm from Western Australia. Sorry to hear about Bob's medical conditions. Sounds like he has done it hard and tough. A big warm welcome to both of you. I have had 7 back operations before my surgeon said he was worried about doing more surgery. He passed me over in to the hands of a wonderful Neuro Surgeon who is concentrating now on Pain Management. I had to go on Gabapentin for a month 1st, but that didn't work. I know most people have a trial 1st but due to the extensive back surgeries I had had over 3 years he went with the biggest Stimulaotr available. He said the worst that can happen it didn't work and he would remove it. The first day they switched it on, I couldn't believe the relief that I felt. It was awesome. It is designed to change the gateway to the brain for pain stimulus. Instead of it being bad, it tricks the brain in to making it feel like a good sensation. That's how it was described to me. I'm not sure if Bob has ever had any muscle stimulation via a tens machine, but it feels sort of like that but a deeper sensation. Getting right to the core of the pain. He will probably never fully go off his pain meds, but it will help him reduce them by whatever % that he get pain relief. I.E if it reduces his pain by 40% that's what you can cut your meds by. To try and explain it a little better, I can still feel the severe sciatic pain I get, but when I turn my stimulator the pain just feels like a tight muscle, that's all. It doesn't get rid of all my pain. Having said that, I have reduced the strength and severity of the drugs I used to take to what I take now. It's awesome. I love my stimulator. I do understand that this is not the case for everyone. I do hope that the other members will give you their feedback as well. Hoping your pain is less than yesterday & Better tomorrow Warm Cheers
