However, my doctor knew I needed the implant, but I had to go through a series of injections to prove to the insurance company that I need the stim and we tried everything else first. The series of injections, approval, etc took about a year. Remember, it was 4 years from my injury and I had already tried several other medical treatments, plus had 2 surgeries. I had heard that in other countries people receive stimulators much sooner after their injuries, your post, , bears this out.
