Guest guest
Does anyone have experience with blocked tear ducts and conjunctivitis? My son Baxter is 3 mths and I have had to squeeze pus from his tear ducts several times a day since day one. If I don't do it regularly it builds up into a painful lump in the corner of his eye. He has also had cronic conjunctivitis like nothing I've ever seen before. He is also very sensitive to light. If anyone knows what I'm talking about I would love to hear from you. It's hard to know what is related to his condition or if I am being paranoid about every little thing he has.
Guest guest
, My son Austin had blocked tear ducts. They ened up putting tubes in for a couple of years. After that he had no problems. What does the doctor say about them? Sorry but i can't help you with the conjunctivitis.
Guest guest
Hi sarah...leanne again, yes I have noticed pretty much from day 1, that ethan gets very *goopy* eyes!...especially after he wakes up, they are all crusty, poor wee guy, he hates it when I have to wash them! I think its probably because the opening of the eye is so tight that it builds up so much? He has never had a lump though, just crusty eyes, and when he does cry his eyes go so red!...Ethan is also very *naselly* runny nose all the time, I wonder if its anythoing to do with the sinus's, or because the bridge of there nose is so flat??? agin, just a guess...does baxter have *cupped-bent* ears? ethans right ear cups over at the top, another wee guy has large ear lobes! blepharophimosis blocked tear ducts & conjunctivitis Does anyone have experience with blocked tear ducts and conjunctivitis? Guest guest
just spending a day behind the computer and finding new stuff. after all the new insights via this egroup i am understanding a great deal more than when i first started searching the internet, which is great! still not quit sure why nina lacks tears though. the doc's never answered our question. think this could be with the lacrimal gland (new vocabulary to get through to the doc!) which produces tears. situatied somewhere near the levator... as this levator is not developed perhaps the lacrimal gland isn't either. but then again why did erik started producing tears after the operation of his lower eyelid? someone mentioned to me that the eye orbit is a closed system if the tear duct is obstructed it has nowhere to go??? the funny thing is that our surgeon has written something about ducts and tubes:) I just found the article on entrez-pubmed (A case of a late complication after naso-lacrimal duct intubation. Eye. 1995;9 ( Pt 6):801-2.) we havent seen him for over a year and hope to see him in november so that we can ask him about this. i also found something which will interest you , the term of the blocked tube. it may help you search the internet? it is called Dacryoscystitis. what a word It seems that it can sometimes be confused with other infections around the eye, like conjuctivitis, which can also have a watery discharge that appears to be excessive tearing. still don't understand why so many of our kids eyes get stuck with puss. i want to mention that nina didn't have this as much during the summertime as she did in the winter. would this be for all conjuctivitis? just like a normal cold? i also finally understand the light sensitivity, this happens when one lacks a tearfilm over the eye, which should break the light or something. bernice
