My grandfather just finally had his first eye surgery about 8 months ago.

He is in his late 70's. He only had one of his eyes done. I asked why he

didn't do both and he said he wasn't sure how he would feel about even

having the one done after so many years with no surgery. I really don't

think he'll even have his right eye done. I am in Cincinnati, Ohio. The

surgeon had i had is no longer around, but my kids have been going to the

Cincinnati Eye Institute. They see Dr. Dwight Kulwin. He is very good at

what he does, but i think he's better with adults than with kids. I think

he just doesn't know how to deal with children very well. He told me that

he wouldn't even consider doing Garrett's surgery until he was put on some

kind of medication for his ADHD. He said he couldn't risk him falling or

doing something to his eyes after the surgery.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

When my daughter recently had her surgery to correct the epicanthal folds (transnasal wiring), the surgeon also mentioned that he placed a "plate" in the bridge of her nose that would "melt" over time but would help it to develop to be more prominent. I am still not real clear on what he meant. Has anyone else had this or heard of it? We go back in a month or so to have the ptosis surgery and I will ask him about it again

.. When I mentioned she has a smaller left eye, I also meant eye opening. The good news is that she no longer needs her glasses since her first surgery. I'm not sure if she ever really needed them or if they just helped since her openings were so small.
