Does your pain doc have a PA in the office? That is who usually writes my Rx's at my pain doc. Maybe it would be easier to get to them instead of the doctor if he has one. This is a wake up call for me. I just changed to a different Med Part D Plan and I need to make an appt with my Internal Med doc and get new Rx's for mail order. I don't need them this month, but just in case something happens I better get on the ball. I usually have my doctor write me a one month plus the 3 month. That way I get it filled and even if my Rx plan receives the 3 month script they hold it and fill it when it's eligible. But that is definitely unacceptable with your drug provider. My BP is UPPP Hi I have been trying to cut down on my med costs due to my stinking co pay being over $120 a month at the retail pharmacy. I talked my PM into writing a prescription for 3 months so I can use my mail order pharmacy. I sent the prescriptions in late Dec. I have not received them. I have been checking the website every day. It says to wait at least 8 days so I did. I finally call today and get the stupid automated system and find out that they received my prescriptions on the 2nd but they are not going to ship them til after the 14th. I have my MS but nothing else that I need including my Topamax and Ultram. DANG it I talked to a rep then who INFORMS me they have issues with my prescriptions and want to clarify them with my doc. I ask what clarifications? I am on hold 3 times to finally find out they claim my doc put down 0 refills and 0 quantity on one of the scripts I have a hard time with that as he writes them all the time and has never messed them up. I asked why the heck I was not notified of this and what was I supp to do with out my meds. They said well get another doc to write me a script! DUH I said this is a pain mgt office and I am not supp to get other docs to give me meds even though these are not controlled. My doc is hardly ever in the office on Friday and even if he is it is impossible to get in touch with them I have tried many times before to no avail. I asked then how many times have you tried to contact them and WHY have you not let me know what is going on??? Do you think I can just sit here without my meds? I mean give me a flippin break. So now I guess I will have to try to no avail to get through to the impossible phone system and pray I get a nurse who can help me on this. I guess they expected me to just sit here like a good little gomer and twiddle my thumbs until in their divine wisdom they decided to do something about it or let me know there was a problem a month later. I swear that ought to be akin to neglect and malpractice! I got pretty hot with the rep today and that is just not like me. I try to be professional business like and always try to stay with the rule you get more flies with honey than with vinegar but after the 3rd time of being put on hold to find out the same exact question I had asked 3 times and had not gotten an answer to and never did get a clear answer I was a bit miffed to say the least. I told that rep it was neglect and there were severe side effects of going with out my meds and there are. Dang you can have seizures going off Ultram cold turkey! I am going to send their raggedy butts the bill if that happens. Yes I would send in your prescriptions early I had done that before though and had trouble getting my interim prescriptions filled at the retail pharmacy in the past so I waited like I was supposed to this time SIGH I will call and try to get the Nurse Practitioner. I found out that 2 of the docs that were there previously have left. What is it with me and pM's? This is the reason I had to leave the last one I saw 5 years ago. The docs kept quitting and I kept being sent to another doc long story. Anyway this time around I have the last doc available but I guess I will get to see the NP for refills. That is who I was supp to see last time in but the doc came in cause he wanted to know about the SCS evidnetally they had not updated him on my implant yet. Kim Upset! My pain doc gives me my written RX for my monthly meds...and then gives me one written month in advance....with the statement on the bottom....not to be filled until after______________ whatever the date is. The office makes copies of all scripts that were given to every patient and they are kept in the chart. I take it right to the pharmacy that I use...and they keep it on file. He does this for me, as he knows it is so hard for me to get to his office. I have bi-monthly appointments, unless of course I have an emergency, and I get right in. I ahve been his patient now for over 7 years....he knows me and trust me. I am very lucky with the DR I have. I have not been as lucky in the past....and I know your frustration, as I have had some real " doozy " of docs that just didn't care about anything except their precious damned copays. After all the issues that I had working with these mail in pharmacies...I just refuse to use them for myself...I know that they are supposed to be cheaper...but it is more of a head ache then it is worth...especially if I can't get my needed meds.
