Guest guest
Margee I am glad that you at least got some partial answers. What bothers me here is what are you supposed to do for the pain in the meantime while they figure out what they are going to do here? To me that is cruel that they will not give you medication to allow you to have some comfort in the interim. What are you going to do if you decide you do not want to go the surgical route? Have you discussed this with the the pain mgt doc? As I said I think I would get a second opinion here. I dont think it would be out of reason in this situation. Kim This is from my Pain Management doctor's notes It's too long to type everything, but this is what he says about me. He feels at this time the only realistic options of getting significant pain relief would be either surgical intervention or implantation of a spinal cord stimulator. Due to my spinal stenosis however the only way to get a spinal cord stimulator lead into my upper spine would be to do it with an open laminectomy. He could try to use percutaneous occipital leads for the treatment for my headaches but this would only address one part of my severe pain. So now we are waiting to see what my Neurosurgeon sees in my scan that was done today and see what plan they come up with.
Guest guest
I'm on the Gabapentin am and pm, just waiting to hear from Neurosurgeon. I hope to hear from him tomorrow, sure don't want to wait all weekend to hear something. I know, some days the pain get's so bad, I can hardly function. Then the migraines come on and makes it even worse. I just deal with it hour by hour. Only good thing is the doseage for Gabapentin is high enough at night to let me sleep all night. But I wake up groggy in the morning. > > Margee > I am glad that you at least got some partial answers. Guest guest
I agree listen a pain management doctor is that you are not getting proper treatment. I would consult 1 more time then move on to anoher doctor who will help you bu managing your pain until they find anthor way to rlief your pain. demand reilif even if it mean going to E.R thats what i had to do before i found the best pain doctor in Delaware. Guest guest
I am so depressed right now! Go the call from my Neurosurgeon's office, he has looked at my scans that were done on 10-29, I need follow-up appt. with him but none available until 12-4, yes December! I have no answers and now have to just wait? I called and left message for my Pain Management doctor, they are both in the same office and maybe i can find out something sooner. I first tried to get help with my pain beginning of Aug. I waited 4 weeks for appt. with new Orthopedic doctor, then 4 weeks to see Pain Management doctor, now it's been 4 weeks since then and I'm still in pain and getting worse all of the time! > > > > Margee > > I am glad that you at least got some partial answers. Guest guest
Hi Margee, Hang in there. I know exactly how you are feeling and what you are going through. I've been out of action for a while the pain has been horrendous and I've passed out a couple of times. This week has not been good on the news front for me either. As I think I mentioned before that I had a consultation with a neurosugeon who said he could fix me and that was nearly 6 months ago. Last week I was promised that I would have an answer by Wednesday this week confirming a date for my op but guess what, I'm still not on his list yet as according to his p.a. " he's a very busy man " and now I have to phone them in a weeks time when i might get an answer. My pain doctor was so fed up with the lack of response that 6 weeks ago he referred me to another hospital and I had an appointment to see one of their doctors on 10th November. Well, I had a phone call from them today cancelling my appointment as they had misread the letter from my pain doctor and they don't have the necessary neurosurgical expertise to deal with the type of lead that I have fitted. With my history they won't touch me. As you can imagine I'm feeling really down too, so I feel for you, I really do. Guest guest
My PM doctor will go over the scans with me on 11-6, so that's sooner than 12-4. Have had another migraine today, starting to come on daily now. > > > > > > Margee > > > I am glad that you at least got some partial answers. Guest guest
Margee You NEED to CALL your Neuro and ask to speak to his nurse or PA. Tell them you are NOT happy waiting another 4 weeks to get results from your CT scan when you have already been waiting all this time. See if you can get at least results and see which way the neuro is heading. I am sorry you are in hurry and wait mode as I call it. I am becoming very used to it!
