Guest guest
Depression is part of chronic pain. The doctors don't tell us about this. When the depression strikes us, we are totally unprepared to deal with it. We should be told that living with chronic pain leads to depression. That way we know what we are dealing with. That's why it's so important to speak to a therapist who deals with chronic pain, he or she can help you deal with living with chronic pain. This helped me tremendously. Sue C Moderator From: Margee' <48margee@...> Subject: Re: Pain and Depression Stimulator Date: Wednesday, October 15, 2008, 12:13 AM I know exactly how you're feeling, I've been not able to work any longer since 1999. I used to do home day care. I can't get Disability to help with all of my medical bills and meds either. Makes me feel like I'm not doing my part to contribute. Depression sets in quite often for me. My husband's been trying to save enough money to retire and I'm spending it as fast as he brings it home on medical and meds. This sure doesn't help with depression. We live in rural county too! So I don't get out except for appts. > > I know first hand what its like to be depressed and have alot pain. Guest guest
Margee Good days and bad days are part of the journey of a chronic pain patient. The hope is to have more good days than bad ones. Doctors are always pushing more and more meds rather than dealing with the real issues. Your're right, all they due is make us zombies. The meds don't make our pain go away, they don't make our depression go away, all they do is dope us up!! By talking with a therapist that deals with chronic pain, he or she can help you learn to cope with living in pain. A therapist can give you the tools to teach you how to deal with living in pain. The meds can't do this for you. I would recommend that anyone in chronic pain going through depression see a therapist that deals with chronic pain issues. I know it made a tremendous difference for me. Sue C Moderator From: Margee' <48margee@...> Subject: Re: Pain and Depression Stimulator Date: Wednesday, October 15, 2008, 11:00 AM My doctors and Ins. Health Nurse deal with my depression by always wanting to give me more meds, but the last time I was put on med for depression I was a Zombie and slept all day long. So now I just deal with it by myself, I have good days and bad days. I've never a therapist for it. > > > > I know first hand what its like to be depressed and have alot pain. Guest guest
So glad you'll be getting your insurance soon. That will make things so much easier, and relieve some of your stress. Yes, talking to someone you can trust makes things better. Glad things are looking up for you. Guest guest
Thanks If you need to go to bed do it just put asleep on the stupid report. They do not expect you to stay up if you are not accustomed to doing so. Kim Re: Pain and Depression Kim, I hope your appt. goes well tomorrow. I see my doctor on Friday morning. I have to document my pain on a chart for today every hour. It's going to be hard to stay up until 9pm, I go to bed between 7:30-8:00 pm every night. > > > > > > > > I know first hand what its like to be depressed and have alot > pain. Guest guest
That's what I think I will do, if I need to go to bed at my normal time I will just write it on my pain sheet. > > > > > > > > > > I know first hand what its like to be depressed and have alot > > pain. Guest guest
When my husband had his MVA, he asked me how I do this every day....he told me that " I have been out of work now for almost 1 1/2 months....how do you do 7 years and still smile and take care of the house, cook the dinner, do the wash...and get the shopping done in your horrible pain????? I feel that I blessed to have the best and most loving husband in the world.....but now He REALLY understands what pain is like....don't get me wrong...he helps with EVERYRHING in our house...he cooks, goes food shopping, does some wash and cleans the house....some days I just can't do it all....and he kicks into helping gear...but now he really knows what it is like. I say that I am married to the best man...not just for his help...but more so for his unconditional love, understanding and humor. Hang in!!! Love, Kathy G.
