Leaders in The Arc:

Last Friday, I met with representatives of the Governor's Office,

RTA, CTA, Pace and other disability advocates to discuss free rides

for people with disabilities on public transportation. The free rides

would be for the fixed transportation routes only. What is under

discussion now is giving free rides to individuals with disabilities

who currently qualify for reduced fares and/or are eligible for the

circuit breaker.

I am interested in hearing from you about current reduced fare

eligibility and if there are any negative outcomes regarding

individuals with intellectual disabilities. Does this system work

well for them? Please send me your thoughts.
