Guest guest Posted August 2, 2001 Report Share Posted August 2, 2001 Kofi Anan chooses Ugandan To Lead Global Health Fund UN Secretary-General Kofi n has chosen Crispus Kiyonga, a former Ugandan health and finance minister, as chair of the transitional working group for the establishment of the Global AIDS and Health Fund, UN spokesperson Marie Okabe announced yesterday. Kiyonga, who currently is a cabinet minister without portfolio and political adviser in the government of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, " is well known regionally and internationally as a champion of efforts against HIV/AIDS as well as malaria and tuberculosis, " Okabe said. The AIDS fund is to be set up by December.
