Guest guest
When I think of this group, I am often reminded of squirrels scurrying for a nut. The nut being the latest and/or hottest cancer cure. One minute it's immunocal, flaxseed oil and cottages the next, and now MGN-3)...always looking outside of ourselves for healing. Never tuning into the inner voice that knows our needs better than anything else. Never attempting to understand our body or appreciate our own genius. As a result of researching information on natural healing for my niece with breast cancer, I walk away believing their is no dis-ease that cannot be cured...PERIOD. I do feel, however, chemo and radiation (in most cases) makes the healing process much, much, harder. Yes, some of these cures may be very beneficial, but I think we miss the point when we believe healing comes from a pill, a vitamin, a chemical or even an herb. Healing is both holistic and synergistic and starts from within. I have been a vegetarian for 27 years and at age 47 I do not take even an aspirin. I have never had a major or minor illness, and stopped accepting flus and colds 10 years ago. I do yoga and run most mornings and must admit, no one believes I am over 35. I have 3 gray hairs. When it comes to excerise, will give any 25 year old a run for her money, which isn't hard to do these days considering the SAD of most young people. I attribute this to natural living and a positive attitude towards life. I say all this not to brag, but as a witness to the benefits of a healthy diet, lifestyle, and a true belief in the magnificence of the human body and its ability to heal itself. ....bright moments. Guest guest
Thanks Betty, It is important to know that after living nutrient deficient lives WE CAN'T EXPECT TO BE ANYTHING BUT SICK. However I do believe that our family has found supplements with the nutrition we would get from our food if we had not so drastically depleted our soils and loaded them with chemicals and then to top it off we pick them before they're mature. Guest guest
Dear Betty R, I know healthy vegetarians, who run more than you do and still got breast cancer. The reason people look for an answer for cancer is there is none now. Cancer is not like polio where a shot can prevent it. Healthy living does not always prevent one from getting cancer. Guest guest
Daisy, Of course it doesn't. The point is, the approach to health must be holistic and not focused on a magic bullet. Every month, through the use of herbs and vegetable juices, I treat myself as if I have cancer. Simply because, if statistics are correct, one out of every three people will be stricken (you can correct me on those statistics). I do feel, however, because of preventive measures my chances of recovery are greater. Cancer causing agents are all around us, no one is immune. ....bright moments
Guest guest
Hi Daisy, Healthy living doesn't necessarily prevent cancer or any other disease ESPECIALLY IF YOU WAIT TILL YOU'RE SICK to begin living healthy. When you find someone like Betty who has taken care of themselves all their lives through their diet I believe you will be amazed at how low their rate of disease is. I believe if we focus on trying to share EVERYTHING WE HAVE and not on arguing about who's right or wrong we will be able to help one another a whole lot more. I also believe that is all Betty was trying to do. GOD BLESS Eddie
Guest guest
According to the AMA 1 out of 2 get heart disease and 1 out of 3 get cancer. This statistic is expected to change and the incidences of cancer are expected to overcome the incidences of heart disease. I'm 99% sure these are the correct statistics. Guest guest
P.S. Daisy, My mother, who had annual checkups, died of colon, liver and breast cancer. My sisters, brother and myself were raised on fresh garden vegetables which my mother and father grew on our eight acres of land. Prior to her illness she had not been sick or bedridden a day in her life. How did she get cancer with such a healthy lifestyle, you ask? Because cancer-causing agents are all around us. I understand that, which is the reason I do not own a microwave oven, which is the reason I don't use aluminum underarm deodorants (possibly one of the causes of breast cancer, humm), which is the reason I don't eat hormone fed (or any other type) chicken or drink milk. What I wouldn't give for ice cream that taste like Hagan Daz's butter pecan. When I gave up the Hagan Daz it was as if life as I knew it had ended....then in stepped Rice Dream. Yet, with all that, I still sit at my computer sending out messages to you while receiving a healthy dosage of radiation. I would never say running keeps one healthy. In some cases it can be detrimental. Jogging keeps the blood circulating and it gives me an opportunity, while running among the trees, to deep breath relatively fresh air. I also find jogging in cold weather helps buildup the immune system. ....bright moments.

Guest guest
Okay, I just want to jump in here, seems we have a heated debate going on here. Please allow me to add my " 2 cents " worth. Cancer is an inter-related disease due to more than one factor. If you think about it cancer is everywhere. It's in the food by pesticides, in the milk by hormones, in the water and air by pollution, in personal care products by chemicals, high stress levels etc.etc. A person could drive theirselves crazy tring to rid their life of all the " cancer " out there. Remember the serenity prayer: It says change what you can change, accept what you can't change, and pray for the wisdom to know the difference. Those things we can change we should such as eating an organic diet or at least using a vegetable wash on store bought produce, maybe eating 75% or our diets raw as Dr. Day suggests so the enzymes are maintained. And we know the rest. Of course, exercise in any form is important and helpful - it increases oxygen to the body, relieves stress, and releases endorphins which puts us in a better mood. Purging the body of toxins and parasites once a year as as often as you feel need of. And keeping the bowels functioning properly, no less than two bowel movements a day, ideal is one meal in and one meal out. This is something we can do. Use personal care products that do not contain harmful ingredients, a highly unknown source of carcinogens people seem to be unaware of. Did you know that from the time our babies are born their bodies are subjected to carcinogens. s' baby wash contains quaternium 15 which is absorbable through the skin and once in the body is converted to formaldehyde which is a potent carcinogen. s baby powder contains talc which has been linked to ovarian cancer in females. These are baby products for heaven's sakes! I consider this a crime and get more outraged anytime I think about it. These companies don't care if you get cancer, they just want to make money, evidently at any cost! And its not just & s products either, these harmful ingredients are in everything. Look at your labels, do you see SLS (sodium Lauryl Sulphate or sodium Laureth sulphate), it has been documented to affect protein structures, causes improper eye development in children, causes cataracts, documented to cause nitrate absorption (as much as eating one pound of bacon with each shampoo) nitrates are known carcinogenic agents and it penetrates into systemic tissues (brain, heart & liver) and is a skin irritant. That is just one ingredient that is in EVERYTHING! Go read your labels. Companies use it because it is cheap and makes a mixture foam well. Another is Propylene Glycol, which is basically antifreeze, used as a humecant but is absorbed through the skin and causes liver abnormalities and kidney damage and the list goes on. So even if someone is doing everything " right " , you can still get cancer if you shop for your personal care products at the local Walmart. Walmart is full of cancer! Look at the labels on " natural " products as well, and you will find these ingredients are many times in these products also. There are alternatives and the only company I have found that even address this and tries to educate the people through their distributors is Neways. That is why I am with them, they have a conscience and a soul and a mission. I don't understand why people would continue to buy products from a company that is so un-interested in their health and will eventually cause these people to become sick, because it builds up in the system. Another interesting note is some of the chemical companies that make and sell these ingredients in personal care products are also joined with the pharmaceutical companies that are going to sell you the " medications " to get you " well. " The Cancer Society does not want to find a cure. They receive billions every year in donations and federal monies. They pay themselves huge salaries! They have people in strategic places to make sure that no product out their " cures " cancer especially if they can't replace their present income. How do you think they would look if after all the billions they have spent on cancer, it was found that apricot seeds or essiac tea or whatever cures cancer and that this was know decades ago. If they can't patent it, you can be sure they won't be supporting it no matter how effective it is! This is possibly one of those things we can not change at this moment in time...but if people apply enough heat and speak openly about these unethical practices of the AMA, Cancer Society, Pharmaceutical companies, industrial companies - basically all those in high power....maybe one day this will change. Other suggestions one can change or do and should: Learn to laugh! Make it a point to watch one funny movie a week, watch the grandkids play, go to a comedy show, whatever it takes. This also increases your endorphin level and relieves stress. Watch your tongue! Speak positively. There is " power " in them thar' words! Learn to forgive! It lightens the heart and allows God in. Pray for guidance or whatever your need may be. Keep in touch on a daily basis. Keep learning, loving, living and laughing. Talk to you all later.................Belinda If any of you want more information on the " harmful " ingredients in your personal care products, just let me know. And tell people this stuff, no one seems to be aware of this issue and the impact it has on their health. Don't let corporate America keep getting away with this. Let's start to CHANGE it! I get very " passionate " on this subject, because the danger is un-necessary, avoidable, and down right criminal if you ask me. Please join us in our mission to reduce the cancer numbers. Guest guest
Betty " bright moments " it's not a helpful stance to roundly accuse everyone with cancer on a cancer forum of " NEVER " looking inside for the voice of guidance. Then going on and on about your healthy lifestyle and how you've never had a serious health crisis. This puts you in a place of pomposity health wise that you should guard against. Perhaps you just didn't realize how you may be percieved. A person can be busy doing BOTH inner work and also be concerned to know all the outside help that is out there to be had. I could tell by your additude that you are under the impression you have a perfect lifestyle and it protects you 100% and for your sake I hope you are right otherwise the higher power out there might think you need a little humility and take you down a peg or two and give you the flu or something. I for one don't like being compared to a squirrel. I have done years of soul searching and lifestyle changes in the wake of cancer but still am interested in any outside pill that might give me an edge. Carcinoma can be prevented with a shot with virtual 100% certainly, and breast cancer is probably the easiest. This is fact, fact, fact. Will this ever be allowed in the US? Sure, as soon as the pharmaceutical companies develop more cash-cow nightmare diseases to take the place of cancer. When the day comes that effective prophylactic vaccines against cancer are approved for use for everyone, and not just the wealthy and the connected, then you can cringe with the knowledge that the pharmaceutical company directors are smirking at the golf course. Guest guest
I don't remember if I posted this yet. If I did, sorry for doing twice. I thinks it's info a lot of people will be interested in reading. I found it informative. Here is something I believe you will find VERY INTERESTING. A PILOT SURVEY: STANDARD CANCER THERAPY COMBINED WITH NUTRACEUTICAL DIETARY SUPPLEMENTATION IMPROVES TREATMENT RESPONSES AND PATIENT QUALITY OF LIFE G.Hyl and, M.D.,D.,M.T, Medcenter One, Dept. Radiation Oncology, Bismarck, North Dakota. In thousands of cancer cases evaluated by H. , 87% of those with " spontaneous remissions " had made major dietary changes prior to tumor regression. The Dietary Supplement Health Education Act of 1994 resulted in millions of US citizens adding a plethora of supplements to their diets. A favorable response by 5 patients that failed all cancer therapy was noted after it was stopped. We found that they had consumed phytonutrient and phytogenin containing dietary supplements. A search revealed that Busbee et. al 1994 found a glyconutrient in these diet supplements increased IL-1,IL-6,INF andTNF production in monocyte cultures. See et. al 1999 reported enhanced NK lymphocyte cytolytic function in response to multiple glyconutrients. Barhomi et. al 1997 found glyconutriens increased intracellular reduced-glutathione protection 50% in liver cells. Such activity provides a potential differential effect for tumor cell destruction and normal cell protection. To increase our observations, patients with malignancies were solicited from a 3 state area and 127 volunteered to add nutraceuticals to their diet. 100 patients returned a quality of life survey focusing on weight loss, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, pain control, ability to complete treatments on schedule, physical activity and sense of well being. 40% of the group had failed standard therapy and were in a state of progressive disease. 60% were starting radiation or chemo-therapy. 85% reported improvements in the above clinical perameters. The phytogenin supplement contains plant sterols for nutrient based endocrine support. Ovarian, breast, uterine, and prostate malignancy patients were discouraged from taking this nutrient. Some elected to add the phytogenin to their diet and they reported the best preservation of appetite, muscle mass, and had the least side-effects during treatment. Patients with a diagnoses of ovarian carcinoma, astrocytoma grade IV, lymphoma with mild marrow suppression, a massive pelvic myxosarcoma, and colon adenocarcinoma with brain metastasis had unprecedented responses. Conclusions: Nutraceutical dietary supplements (1) do not inhibit tumor cell destruction by radiation and chemotherapy (2) enhance tumor cell destruction (3) protect normal cells from radiation and cytotoxic damage (4) induce reductions in tumor mass in malignancies resistant to all treatments (5) improve quality of life for patients by reducing treatment toxicity and side effects from radiation and chemotherapy. A formal, controlled clinical study is warranted to further evaluate the effects of Nutraceutical dietary supplementation in combination with standard cancer therapy. Guest guest
I have to comment on your latest/and or hottest cancer cures. Immunocal is a food that gives the cell from within the nutrition it needs to have its protein glutathione function as the body was intended. Immunocal is not a cure, but glutathione, lack of over over zealous in cancer needs to be addressed and all evidence when researched points to Immunocal being that nutrient. We all seem to agree on one thing, the body is constantly under attack. Glutathione only works properly when given nutrishion, and can be depleated by the daily challenges we face. As for what I have learned here about Flaxseed oil and cottage cheese, is that again it is not a cure but something essential needed in our diet for our bodies to function better. As for MGN-3 I have to say I am not sure, but I did find research about those mushrooms (forget the name) on the med line and they seem very promising for hitting cancer sites. But others seem to understand why MGN-3 works and I don't see it as being a cure to cancer per say either. I have to disagree I think that when you are striving to correct what is on the inside that is why you seek homeopathic methods. The drugs are the true bandaides. And as for understanding the body, you should do some research just on glutathione and its importance to you for prevention. I spent the first thirty nine years of my life on the side of the fence that saw nothing but illness. By understanding glutathione and its importance to my cells and then being able to address their needs I have been well for the last three years. I choose to heal what I knew I could heal, and glutathione can be corrected when allowed to do so. You are lucky to be well, and even though you are to be congratulated for the fine job you have been doing taking care of your body. You are not exempt from illness. I have seen allot of great folks who like you lead a good decent life style, and one day they were just gone. I believe it is because illness just looks for a window of opportunity, and I for one know for a fact that as I understand glutathione, this isn't something you have ever addressed. And you can't get much more on the inside then that. Something all your cells and organs has to protect and detoxify. The body should be able to detoxify at all times if glutathione is doing its job properly. And it can't do its job without proper nutrishion. I hope you always remain well Debbie dezif-@... wrote: original article:cures for cancer/?start=5359 > When I think of this group, I am often reminded of squirrels scurrying for a > nut. Guest guest
Eddie, I agree with your evaluation of Betty's comments. I really don't think that they were offensive. I think we should be very appreciative of Betty, , and all others with similar comments. We're all adults searching for ways to cure a major problem. No time for diplomacy as far as I'm concerned. I can take it straight between the eyes. I have made major adjustments since my discovery of prostate cancer. I'm sure others have likewise done the same. I either read or was told that there are 150,000 herbs in this world, with only 3% of them being toxic. Many of them have preventive or healing properties. Not all of these herbs can be found in any one region. The inhabitants from most of these cultures outside of the WEST have very few problems with cancer. They use herbs that maybe quite different, but with the same results. We can do likewise. Regardless of what supplements one may choose, I sincerely feel that MIND over MATTER is imperative if we are to have total sucess.
