HEAL SPORTS INJURIES AND REGROW DAMAGED

TISSUE-Light Beams Tone Your Lymph System

Alternative Medicine's Natural Pharmacy

Although lymphatic therapy, or the manipulation and draining

of the body's 600 lymph nodes, is the fourth most commonly

prescribed medical treatment in Europe, in the U.S. it is

almost

unknown. Yet an unimpeded lymph system, which carries

immune cells, is essential not only for health, but in

enabling

the body to heal from serious illnesses, soft tissue damage,

breast cancer, and prostatitis, among others.

European physicians often use a manipulation technique called

Manual Lymph Drainage to unclog the lymph system, yet a

new device called the Light Beam Generator can accomplish in

one session what would otherwise require 8 treatments of

hands-on lymph massage and drainage.

Developed by ELF Laboratories of ville, Indiana, the

Light Beam Generator is a portable device, the size of a

small

suitcase. Based on the principles of energy medicine, the

Generator contains a radio transmitter, a

fiber-optics-mounted

flashlight attachment, and small amounts of inert gases such

as

neon, argon, xenon, and helium.

An electronic pulse (728Hz) from the radio transmitter

excites

the inert gases; they radiate subtle energy as light which is

then

pulsed into living human tissue through contact with the

handheld light beam generator " flashlight. "

The Generator gets excellent results in soft tissue

regeneration

work with patients who have torn cartilage, sports injuries,

or

need post-operative rehabilitation, reports Sky ,

R.P.T., a

physical therapist working in Santa Fe, New Mexico, who has

used this FDA-approved device for 4 years. " It literally

provides

a light touch, and helps get the inflammatory response to

tissue

injury out of the way so healing and regeneration can start, "

says . " I often use it on a patient for 5-8 minutes

before

doing manual lymph therapy. "

See " Energy Medicine "

http://www.alternativemedicine.com/issue02/02178R00.shtml

In two published cases (among many), used the Light

Beam Generator (LBG) to heal and regenerate torn knee

cartilage in a 37-year-old mountain climber. During

90-minute sessions, used the LBG and manual lymph

drainage. In a second case, eliminated longstanding

pain

and restricted hip joint movement. is also using this

approach to work on breast tissue regeneration in cases of

mastectomy. The future of physical therapy lies not in

postoperative rehabilitation, says, " but in post-injury

tissue regeneration. "

The LBG (which costs $3200)

and support literature are

Types of Energy Medicine Devices

Most energy medicine devices are based on the acupuncture

meridian system. Acupuncture works on the principle that

there

is a network of energy channels, called meridians, throughout

the body. Different organs are associated with different

energy

meridians, and health problems in various organs show up as

disturbances of energy in the associated meridians.

Acupuncture points, or acupoints, are the points along these

meridians where energy flow can be measured and

manipulated.

Since the 1940s, research has established that acupuncture

points possess electrical conductivity.1 German doctors, led

by

Reinhold Voll, M.D., measured changes in electrical

conductivity at each of the body's acupuncture points. They

discovered that the electrical resistance of the skin

decreases

dramatically at the acupuncture points when compared to the

surrounding skin. They also found that each point appeared to

have a standard measurement for anyone who is in good health

(when there is a steady flow of bioenergy, or qi, in the

meridians). This measurement changes when health

deteriorates.

These discoveries greatly simplified the task of locating

acupoints rapidly and accurately. Based on the work of Dr.

Voll

and his colleagues, and later by researchers in Japan, a new

field of energy medicine instruments have been developed both

for assessment and treatment.

Assessment Instruments: Electroacupuncture Biofeedback

" In the United States, electroacupuncture biofeedback devices

have been approved on an experimental basis solely for

screening

purposes, despite the fact that it is estimated that there

are

between 85,000 to 100,000 practitioners in this field

worldwide. "

Dr. Voll developed a precise measuring instrument known as

the Dermatron? that allowed him to measure the electrical

resistance at acupuncture points. He discovered that higher

or

lower readings than normal at a particular acupuncture point

indicates a problem in the organ that corresponds to that

acupoint; higher generally means there is irritation or

inflammation in the organ and lower usually indicates fatigue

or degeneration.

See Acupuncture.

The acupoints that correspond to specific organs and tissues

are

known as control measurement points (CMP) because they

provide a general indication of the health of the organ or

tissue

as a whole. There are also specific points that indicate how

the

various parts of each organ are functioning. If the CMP for a

particular organ gives a poor reading, the points for the

various

parts of that organ can then be checked. Whichever part of

the

organ shows an imbalance is the site of the dysfunction.

To date there are over two thousand such points that have

been

established as having specific relationships with internal

organs.

A skilled physician can, in a relatively short time, discover

not

only which organs have problems, but which part of the organ

is malfunctioning and what other organs, if any, it is

affecting.

Thus it becomes possible to find the root cause of any

problem.

Electroacupuncture biofeedback testing

This assessment technique became known as

" Electroacupuncture According to Voll " (EAV), and is the

basis of all electroacupuncture biofeedback devices (also

known

as electrodermal screening devices) in use today.

Dr. Voll later expanded his method not only to be able to

learn

what area of the body is being impacted, but to determine

what

the exact source of the problem is as well. He found that if

a

patient held sample homeopathic dilutions of known disease

substances such as bacteria, viruses, or diseased tissue,

when the

patient came upon the one directly related to the cause of

the

problem, the EAV reading would return to normal. The reason

for this is that homeopathic dilutions of a disease substance

are

actually remedies, following the homeopathic law of " like

cures

like. " Therefore, the body is actually responding positively

to

what it perceives as " good medicine. "

In this way, EAV can be used to detect almost every known

disease, chemical toxin, food allergy, and disregulation in

organ

and glandular systems. EAV screening can be used to test

various remedies to determine which medication will correct

the problem, and if there are likely to be any side effects.

Electroacupuncture

biofeedback has been very

successful in screening

for a wide variety of

conditions. However in

screening for cancer it is

advisable to also use

traditional blood tests as

well as blood analysis

with a dark field

microscope.

Electroacupuncture biofeedback devices are currently

manufactured in Germany, France, Russia, Japan, Korea,

England, and the United States. The Vega? is another

electroacupuncture biofeedback device similar to the original

Voll device, but much faster. In recent years there have been

several attempts to further speed up the testing procedure by

using computers. Computerized versions of these instruments,

such as the Computron, can quickly perform multiple

screenings and can also allow the practitioner to build up a

detailed data base of patient files useful for research

purposes.

Today, these electroacupuncture biofeedback devices are

widely

used in Europe, and in Japan a system based on similar

principles called Ryo Do Raku is used by an estimated 40,000

practitioners.2 In the United States, however,

electroacupuncture biofeedback devices have so far been

approved on an experimental basis solely for screening

purposes,

despite the fact that it is conservatively estimated that

there are

between 85,000 to 100,000 practitioners in this field

worldwide.3

Treatment Instruments

While electroacupuncture biofeedback devices can be a

powerful tool for assessing health conditions within the

body,

treatment devices help complete the circle, allowing the

energy

medicine practitioner another viable therapy with which to

combat disease and illness, oftentimes even before it can

manifest, by successfully rebalancing the body's energy flow.

The following are some of the more commonly used types of

these instruments.

See Homeopathy.

The MORA: The MORA was created by Franz Morrel, M.D.,

a close colleague of Dr. Voll. He believed that all

biological

processes are essentially a matter of electromagnetic signals

that can be described by a complex wave form. Health can be

considered as a smooth wave, while disease is identified by

unwanted variations on this wave, both higher and lower.

Dr. Morrel had the idea of taking the electromagnetic signals

directly from the body and manipulating the aberrant wave

forms by raising or lowering them to create normal waves.

These corrected waves are then fed from the device back into

the patient through the corresponding acupoints. The signals

can be taken from any area of the body, modified, and then

returned to that specific area.

Since the MORA uses only the electromagnetic signals coming

directly from the patient, it can be characterized as a truly

natural therapy. " The crucial point of the MORA is that

disease

is considered to be a question of 'wrong' electromagnetic

information, " says -Morley, D.Sc., Ph.D., M.D.

(alt. med.), of Dorset, England. " The MORA instrument 'reads'

the wave information of the patient and corrects it. There is

no

artificial electrical signal introduced. In this sense it is

an

extremely pure form of treatment because it deals only with

the

wave information of the patient. "

The MORA has been used successfully for treatment of skin

disease, headaches, migraines, muscular aches and pains, and

circulation problems, and can be used in combination with

homeopathic prescriptions. Although used primarily for

treatment, it can be used as a diagnostic instrument using

Voll-

and Vega-type measurements as well.

The MORA can also be used for color therapy, transforming

individual colors into appropriate frequencies and

transmitting

them into the body. " The MORA color instrument reduces the

frequency of each color to a lower harmonic, out of the

spectrum of visible light to a lower electromagnetic range, "

states Dr. -Morley. " This allows for deeper penetration

of

tissue and shorter treatment times than with the use of

visible

light color treatment. "

See Light Therapy.

The TENS Unit: A commonly used device for pain relief is the

Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulator, or TENS. It is

widely used in doctors' offices and physiotherapy clinics,

and

can be used at home. It works by simply applying an

electrical

current to the affected nerves, causing conduction to be

blocked

and pain to be relieved. TENS units are also believed to

stimulate the productions of endorphins, the body's own

natural

painkillers.

Judy Zacharski, P.T., owner and Director of the Facial Pain

and

TMJ Clinic in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, uses TENS

instruments to treat temporomandibular joint syndrome (TMJ),

a painful condition of the jaw, usually caused by stress or

injury.

A twenty-five-year-old patient of Zacharski's came to her

with TMJ as a result of both an automobile accident in which

her head struck the steering wheel, and a sports injury in

which

she was hit in the mouth with a baseball. The patient

responded

positively after the first two TENS treatments, and was given

a

unit to use at home. After ten days, the patient reported

considerable reduction in discomfort.4

The Electro-Acuscope: Using a much lower electrical current

than the TENS unit, the Electro-Acuscope? reduces pain by

stimulating tissue repair rather than by stimulating the

nerves

or causing muscle contractions. The current is continually

adjusted to match the resistance from the damaged tissue in

order to facilitate the repair process. The skill of the

practitioner

is of considerable importance for its effective use.

Because of its prolonged effects on tissue repair, the

Electro-Acuscope can be applied to a broad range of clinical

conditions such as muscle spasms, migraines, TMJ, bursitis,

arthritis, surgical incisions, sprains and strains,

neuralgia,

herpes zoster infections (shingles), and bruises.

Steve Center, M.D., of San Diego, California, also uses the

Electro-Acuscope to treat local skin infections, chronic

fatigue

syndrome, migraines, and carpal tunnel syndrome, though he

says he predominantly uses it " for acute and chronic pain,

mainly of musculoskeletal origin-automobile accidents,

lumbosacral (lower back) sprains, shoulder strains, and

sports

injuries. " 5

Godfrey, M.D., founding member of the American

Trauma Society of the American College of Surgeons and

Medical Director of Atlantic Industrial College of Surgeons

in

Atlantic City, New Jersey, finds that, " The most impressive

results are found in the severe muscle contraction headaches

associated with injuries to the muscles of the upper chest,

upper

thorax, and neck. At times the headache is gone within thirty

seconds, " he adds. He also uses the Electro-Acuscope

treatment

for chronic problems produced by strains and sprains, carpal

tunnel syndrome, whiplash, trauma, skin ulcerations,

arthritis,

and the palliative care of ruptured disk patients who are

either

unable or unwilling to undergo surgery.6

Light Beam Generator (LBG): The Light Beam Generator?

radiates photons of light that help restore the cell's normal

energy state, allowing the body to heal itself more readily.

" The

Light Beam Generator can be used anywhere on the body

where there is a problem, " says s, N.M.D., D.Hom.

(Med), of London, England, " and because of its deep

penetration, it can help heal organs and structures deep

within

the body, as well as skin problems. " Dr. s also points

out

that since healthy cells are in a stable energetic state,

there are

no adverse effects when the LBG is used in thirty- to

forty-five-minute sessions.

Dr. s had a patient with a severe case of herpes zoster

over

his upper chest area. The condition was so painful that the

man

could not raise one of his arms and had difficulty sleeping.

Medical treatments had not been able to help him. Dr. s

gave him one forty-five-minute treatment with the LBG, after

which the man was free of most of his pain. He could move his

arm and the pustules were 60 percent reduced in size. After

one

additional treatment with the LBG he was fully healed.

Another of Dr. s' patients had suffered from eczema for

two years. After one treatment with the LBG his condition was

fully improved.

According to Rena , M.Sc., of St. Helens, Oregon, the

effectiveness of the LBG is due to its stimulation of the

lymphatic system. By opening sealed and calcified vessels, it

stimulates blood circulation, reduces edema (swelling), and

eliminates waste products stored in the tissues. uses

the

LBG in conjunction with a dietary and nutritional program to

treat a wide range of conditions, including tendonitis,

bursitis,

arthritis, bruises, sore throats, and allergies. One of

'

patients was a sixty-year-old woman with severe rheumatoid

arthritis in all of her joints. treated her with the

LBG for

fourteen months, after which time she was completely healed.

also finds the LBG is effective in draining varicose

veins

and for the fluid retention associated with premenstrual

syndrome. Sports clinics use it to reduce swelling after

sports

injuries and it can also be used to remove the puffiness that

gathers in the face and the abdomen with age, resulting in a

more youthful appearance.

The Sound Probe: The Sound Probe emits a pulsed tone of

three alternating frequencies that can destroy anything that

is

not in resonance with the body, such as bacteria, viruses,

and

fungi. The pad connected to the instrument is placed anywhere

on the body where there is a problem or pain. The alternation

of

the frequencies ensures that the body does not adjust to the

frequency, so that the treatment remains beneficial over

time. It

can also be used in sequence with the LBG. The Sound Probe is

used first to kill off bacteria, viruses, etc., then the LBG

is used

to clear the debris from the system.

The Diapulse: The Diapulse? uses radio waves to produce

short, intense electromagnetic pulses that can penetrate deep

into the tissues of the body. The heat energy produced

reaches

deep into tissues to improve blood flow, reduce pain, and

promote healing. The Diapulse has been used successfully to

reduce edema and inflammation following surgery and may be

helpful in functional recovery from spinal cord injuries,

according to Emerson, D.C., of Santa Ana, California.

Cymatic Instruments: In addition to the electroacupuncture

biofeedback devices discussed earlier, there are also

therapeutic

cymatic devices in which a sound transducer replaces the

electrodes of the electroacupuncture biofeedback devices.

This

allows recording of the emitted sound patterns associated

with

different body parts.

The machines can be used for diagnosis as well as treatment.

According to Sir Guy Manners, M.D., D.O., Ph.D., of

Bretforton, England, each organ, tissue, and molecule has its

own harmonic signal. These signals are encoded into the

cymatic device, which can be used to deliver to a particular

body part a frequency pattern associated with its healthy

state,

restoring that particular body part to health.

The Infratonic QGM: In the early 1980s, Lu Yan Fang, Ph.D.,

a senior scientist at the National Electro Acoustics

Laboratory

in Beijing, China, discovered that qigong masters emitted

high

levels of low frequency acoustical waves from their hands,

called secondary sound. Although everyone generates secondary

sounds, the signals generated by the qigong masters were one

hundred times more powerful than the average individual, and

one thousand times more powerful than those who were elderly

or ill.

See Qigong,Sound Therapy.

http://www.alternativemedicine.com/V02/02452R00.shtml

Using electroacoustical technology, Dr. Fang constructed an

instrument that simulated this infratonic sound (eight to

fourteen hertz, seventy decibels). When she directed these

massage-like waves into hospitalized patients, she noted

numerous improvements, particularly for the management of

pain. Other benefits include increased circulatory

functioning,

migraine suppression, muscular relaxation, and the

alleviation

of depression. When used on the chest or back, the brain's

production of alpha waves is also stimulated.

Today this machine is medically recognized as an effective

pain

management tool in China and is also used in Japan, Taiwan,

Singapore, France, Spain, Mexico, and Argentina. In the

United

States, it is approved for sale by the FDA (Food and Drug

Administration) as a therapeutic massage device.

The Teslar Watch: The Teslar Watch was developed as a

device to minimize the harmful effects of electronic

pollution,

particularly those extremely low frequencies (ELF) which

range from one to one hundred hertz. In-vitro research

conducted by Glen Rein, Ph.D., of Stanford University Medical

Center, demonstrated that the Teslar Watch enhanced immune

response by 76 percent while simultaneously inhibiting the

uptake of noradrenalin (an antidepressant) by 19.5 percent in

the nerve cells.7

Dr. -Morley also uses the Teslar Watch in his practice.

One of his patients suffered from fatigue, headaches, and a

case

of eczema that she thought might be due to an allergic

reaction.

Within two days of wearing the watch, her headaches vanished,

her skin cleared up, and her energy level significantly

increased.

" People who suffer from food allergies are invariably also

sensitive to specific electromagnetic frequencies, " Dr.

-Morley says. " When the Teslar is worn, their conditions

very often improve, allowing easier subsequent treatment. "
