Hi! I'm new member, and I just joined yesterday. I am , and

I'm 21. I'm probably one of the only 21 year-olds researching

vaccines. I began researching vaccines when a woman on another board

mentioned a website to find out more information on the adverse

affects of vaccines; it was the alternative parenting.com website

and, that led me to many other links and books on vaccines, including

the National Vaccine Information Center. Since I began researching

vaccines last October (I cannot believe it has been almost a year.),

I have discovered that I probably suffered from some adverse

reactions due to the vaccines I received as a child; I was born in

1980, one of the years when there were several DPT hot lots, and of

course, when the old Pertussis was used. I had mild ADD. I also

suffered from eczema for several years as a child. I am the only

person in my family with both of these.

I have decided not to receive any more vaccines due to these adverse

reactions. One of the other reasons that I will not be getting any

more vaccines, more personally, is because I am a vegetarian and most

(if not all) of the vaccines contain animal products, derivatives,

and by-products, or animal matter. Not to mention the toxic

ingredients in general--thimerosol, formaldehyde, aluminium. I also

have religious reasons for not vaccinating. When I do have children,

I will not vaccinate them at all; I think adverse reactions tend to

be herditary, but it's difficult for me to tell, since my parents

were not vaccinated.

I'm certainly thankful that I discovered the other side of vaccines

before I had any children. For those of you who began researching

vaccines after you got married and/or had children, how hard was it

for all of you to convince your husband/significant other of the

dangers and adverse affects of vaccines? Was it hard to get them to

agree with you on not vaccinating the children? I'm hoping to learn

what experiences you all have had in dealing with this and your

husband's family since many of you are serval years ahead of me.

Hi -

It is great to meet you. Good for you looking into this issue now. I didn't

start till before my 3rd was born. My dh wasn't hard to convince- he read one

book, and that was all he needed. As far as his family and mine goes- no one

really agrees with us. My dad and step mom kinda say that they disagree, and

" make sure you get both sides not just one. " I just tell them I do and they

leave me alone. His family has only said something once- and would just ingore

them if they said something. We are doing what is best for our kids.

Aren't women bearing too much of the health burden?! Why shouldn't the men

folk be FORCED to educate themselves about such important issues? Especially

if they are holding on to an opinion that is not based on education.

Well I must be lucky with mine. I have always handled most of my childrens

medical care. I asked dh what he had as a child and he has had CP, measles,

mumps " we had it all " . So I asked him about the youngest (now 9 months) He

said " Do what you feel is right " . I just wonder what happens if she does

come down with something. I have learned how to treat the disease I just

wonder if he will blame me.

He needs to be involved...he could take your children behind your back or engage

others(like mom). Take him to websites, leave a book and info in the bathroom,

read outloud to him. Find a doctor that supports you...

hubby doesn't know

that I am not vaxing. I don't lie to him it just that he never asks. I feel

like I am keeping a secret from him and I feel terrible. I

jus don't want him to 'put his foot down' so to speak and push me to get the

shots. When we did talk about it a year ago he seemed very closed minded

about it.
