ANNOUNCES VISITING FELLOWSHIPS ON SOCIAL ASPECTS OF HEALTH

(Supported by the Ford Foundation)

The Centre for Health Studies offers Senior Fellowship to individuals

having a Masters Degree in Social Sciences/Social Work/Public Health

/Preventive and Social Medicine; and 10 years of research/field

experience with or without Ph.D preferably on the social aspects of

health. The Senior Fellow will receive a consolidated sum of Rs.17,000

per month along with Rs.5,000 for contingencies for the entire

fellowship period. This contingency amount may be utilised for the

purpose of stationary, photocopy and travel to other Institutions.

The Junior fellowship grant is offered to individuals having a Masters

Degree in Social Science / Social Work/Public Health / Preventive and

Social Medicine; and 5 years of research/field experience with or

without Ph.D in the area of social aspects of health. The Junior

fellow will receive a consolidated sum of Rs.15,000 per month along

with Rs.5,000 for contingencies for the entire fellowship period. This

contingency amount may be utilised for the purpose of stationary,

photocopy and travel to other Institutions.

Interested persons may send in their resume, a research proposal which

can be achievable within the fellowship period ( for e.g preparing

working papers, writing review articles, analysing secondary data

etc). The applicants are requested to send three of their best

publications or written work on or before March 15, 2001 to the

address given below. For both the fellowships the duration is 4

months. At the end of the fellowship period the Fellows are expected

to submit the final or near final draft of their work. After the peer

review the submitted draft will be published as a working paper. These

fellowships will commence from mid April 2001.

Applications can be sent through e-mail also.

Family accommodation on the campus is not available. Individual

accommodation in the Research Hostel / Guest House can be arranged,

subject to availability. Employed persons are expected to seek

requisite permission from their organisations prior to submission of

the application. They can however send in an advanced copy of the

application.
