Guest guest
Dear editor: The value of vaccines to the manufacturers of their product is clear. What is not so clear is their value to the public, the consumers of that product. Virtually all vaccine research has been paid for by the vaccine manufacturers themselves. Beyond that, journals that publish research are supported by vaccine/drug dollars. University research grants are often funded by industry. Vaccine advisers, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, have reported and documented ties to the vaccine manufacturers. The United States Congress-mandated Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System(VAERS) has had over 100,000 adverse reactions reported to it, with most estimates of the percent reporting from 1-10%. This means, for instance, that the reported vaccine-associated infant deaths in the United States each year represent between hundreds and thousands of actual deaths, most most of them occuring within days of vaccination. (Please refer to www.vaccinationnews.com for an ongoing report of cases reported to VAERS.) The so-called " experts " say there is little to no evidence that vaccines cause damage. This is a travesty - there is plenty of evidence. The " experts " simply refuse to acknowledge it. And then they condescendingly belittle parents who question vaccines, whose children have been damaged by them. Sadly, this is nothing new. During the 1800's, a Viennese obstetrician, Ignaz Philipp Semmelweis, was relentlessly ridiculed and consequently driven insane for having dared to promote the idea that you should wash your hands between patients. Science and the public are best served by listening to the brave souls who question the status quo, particularly those who believe themselves to have been harmed by it. You are serving neither if you do not examine this issue in a thorough and open-minded way.
