Guest guest
On late Sunday night, RJ came down, quite suddenly, with the same awful, summer cold that my dh has been fighting for about two weeks now. RJ had a horrible runny nose, was terribly congested, eyes were watery, his throat obviously was hurting, was sneezing constantly, was sleeping restlessly, and didn't want to nurse much. Every time he tried to nurse, he would end up gagging, I am sure from all the mucous. This all began, literally suddenly, on Sunday night, around midnight. (Okay, technically Monday morning, but having not been to bed yet, it was still Sunday to me! (o= ) Anyhow, I had dh stop and pick up a homeopathic remedy from my local health food store, a combined remedy. (No local access to a classic homeopath here, are even a lay homeopath.) DH was incredibly skeptical, even implying homeopathy was quackery, and that it was all the power of suggestion, etc. DH came home at 5 pm on Monday, all the while, RJ was still miserable. As soon as dh got home, I started giving RJ the remedy. Literally, within minutes, RJ started perking up. Playing, nursing, acting more like himself. That evening, altho he had been symptomless for a number of hours, he began becoming symptomatic again. I gave RJ ONE more dose, and we went to bed. RJ did not sleep much that night, was terribly restless, whiney, etc. I think he had a healing crisis, as all things point to it. It was as if all his symptoms were multiplied ten fold. Anyhow, by Tuesday morning, when we woke up, a LITTLE OVER 24 HOURS AFTER ONSET OF COLD, he was back to himself! No symptoms, or anything, and has remained clear since Tuesday morning. Monday afternoon, he took a three hour nap, but I am sure that is just from the exhaustion of not sleeping. So, that is MY rave about homeopathics. WAAAAAAAAY better than allopathic medicine, for sure! Another good thing, is dh now believes in homeopathy! Wooohooo! K...on to my question... I recall at one point, Phyllis (I believe it was you) saying that when the remedy is gone, you can add more distilled water to the bottle holding the remedy, and it will still work. However, you need to make certain that the water doesn't overflow. Having really read alot about homeopathy in the past few days, I understand that. However, I am wondering, how many times can you refill the bottle, before you should get a new, fresh remedy? After some time, won't the remedies get kind of stagnant and funky? Also, I have read that some homeopathics have 20% alcohol in them as a preservative, and some do not. Is the alcohol neccessary? BTW, I am refering to liquid form of homeopathics. Any help on those questions, will be greatly appreciated! TIA! ~Donna...aspiring homeopath ;o)
