Guest guest
It really depends on your state's laws. You need to find ALL the statues relating to immunization. Most people (including doctors) think parents only need to vaccinate for school, but some states require the child to be vaccinated by a certain age - even if they are homeschooled. When I discovered this was the law in my state I immediately obtained an exemption for my son who was not yet in school. So parents can be caught out if they don't know exactly what the law requires. And as the recent postings regarding the CPS taking unvaccinated babies in FL and IL show, you can't be too careful. Having your exemption already prepared will give you a sense of security when dealing with doctors and school authorities.
Guest guest
Hi all, quick question... My children are far from school age and will be home schooled or attending private school...do you think I should have my exemption letters prepared in advance (i.e. now)? Thanks, -OH _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp
Guest guest
Dear , Thanks for all the info, I have been enjoying all that has been posted here. I am a SAHM and we home school. How do we find out what our state laws are regarding vaccinations. We don't, by the way, just would like to find out what the repercussions might be. Guest guest
YES!!!! Some states require them for hs-ing also and hs-ing makes you a target for CPS. Be prepared. This will only take a few minutes. Do a religious one now and still look for a doc that will do a medical one. Love and Blessings, Ellen meharv84@... I am secure in my Lord, Jesus Christ! Guest guest
Regardless, from now on when I am asked in medical situations if my kids are uptodate, I intend of saying they are not because of religious reasons. I know they write this stuff down, so when push comes to shove (if), I will have a history of using that reason. This is NOT what most medical personnel write, they just check the " no " box or write " refused " I also would not trust any one other than reading the law for myself, the vaccine laws and the school and homeschool laws. Guest guest
Just state the laws in your area. This is for religious. I am sending an example of that. I think the best ones to do is philosophical and medical if your area does them. To Whom It May Concern: In accordance with the Georgia Code, Section 20-2-771 G , regarding exceptions to immunization requirements (daycare and schools), we hereby certify that the administration of vaccine and other immunizing agents to our child, -------------, conflicts with the tenets and practice of a recognized religion, of which we are adherents. We therefore request that our child be exempted from the school and daycare immunization requirements. Let this certified letter also apply for religious exemption from the other state immunization requirements in accordance with the religious exemption provisions of Georgia Code, Section 31-12-3 G (county board of health immunizations) and, Georgia Code, Section 49-4183 G (Department of human resources immunization requirements). We are informed of and we fully understand the risks of non-immunization for our child. We swear that all of the foregoing statements are true to the best of our information, knowledge, and belief. Guest guest
Anyone who can help? Sandy ALL INFORMATION, DATA, AND MATERIAL CONTAINED, PRESENTED, OR PROVIDED HERE IS FOR GENERAL INFORMATION PURPOSES ONLY AND IS NOT TO BE CONSTRUED AS REFLECTING THE KNOWLEDGE OR OPINIONS OF THE PUBLISHER, AND IS NOT TO BE CONSTRUED OR INTENDED AS PROVIDING MEDICAL OR LEGAL ADVICE. THE DECISION WHETHER OR NOT TO VACCINATE IS AN IMPORTANT AND COMPLEX ISSUE AND SHOULD BE MADE BY YOU, AND YOU ALONE, IN CONSULTATION WITH YOUR HEALTH CARE PROVIDER. Exemption Letter Sandy, I have been struggling with how to write an exemption letter to exclude my daughter from being vaccinated based on philosophical reasons. We just switched health insurances and are no longer a part of an HMO (yeah!). But, that also means that we won't be able to fall through the cracks as easily. :o/ I was wondering if someone in CA might allow me to copy their letter or can give me some good ideas on how to start this thing. Thank you so much! I really appreciate all the work you've done...and continue to do. ) M
