Guest guest
I know of of few people who swear by an egg... one friend lives way up on a mountain top in washington and she gashed her head open and since she is a few hrs from the nearest hospital she got some eggs and broke them open and took the lining of the egg------ not the egg whites but the inner lining of the shell and placed them over the gash and it worked right away.. i also have another friend that cut her thumb rather badly while slicing some pumpkin and she did the same and could feel the egg lining pull the skin back together immediately.. has anyone else heard of this???? i dont know about the salmonella factor since its the membrane surroundin the egg.. or which is safer super glue of egg lining but both of these women swear by it and both are healthy stong mamas.....just thought i'd share adrien

Guest guest
hey you guys, i wrote to my mom (vet lady) and asked her if she'd ever heard of dermabond/superglueing wounds... here's what she had to say, just thought it was interesting... .................................................................................\ ................ The product that doctors use is very similar to the super glue you buy to fix broken things around the house. But it is different in the way that it slowly is absorbed by your body. Regular super glue wouldn't do that it would suffocate the skin cells and kill them. Veterinarians use a product called Nexaband. It is similar to dermabond for humans. They use desolvable sutures on the layer of skin just below the outer layer of skin( subquetaneous skin layer) then use Nexaband on the outer layer. This is a much better way to allow the body to heal than the traditional way with sutures or staples. Sutures and staples are irritating and animals tend to want to lick them because they know this is a foreign object and they want to lick it out. Children tend to want to scratch at it because it can be irritating. Nexaband is gentle. It also helps to prevent infection. I do not ever recommend suturing or glueing and open wound from a dog bite or a large cut. It is better to leave wounds open to allow drainage. It does depend on how large of an area is exposed. Sometimes I have sutured up 95% of the wound and left a small opening to allow it to drain. I have also sutured up and put in a drain tube on larger deeper wounds. smaller cuts and abrasions are okay to glue. Cosmetically if not sutured it will leave behind scars. I prefer scars over infection. All wounds should be flushed extremely thoroughly to remove all dirt. A doctor was impatiently flushing a bite wound on a dog one day, just as he said that is enough flushing I felt the surface again and said I am sure that I feel something hard and gritty down deep inside the wound. He arrogantly disagreed, then was interrupted by a phone call. I quickly began flushing again knowing he was out of the room. Sure enough I found sand and very small pebbles after flushing at least 20 times more. I saved it in a bowl to show the doctor. At first he wanted to get angry at me, then I reminded him that it was he that taught me to always be thorough in eveything I do. Hee Hee he had to swallow his pride and compliment me. I only was doing it to help the poor dog heal. I knew if it was left in there it would get infected and all of the skin around that infection would die and fall off. I do love treating animals. so rewarding. Okay enough rambling.... love ya', mom > >hey mom, have you ever heard of dermabond? do vets use it? i was talking >with some parents who said they were using SUPER GLUE (!!!) whenever their >kids fell and slit open skin. they said it was the same stuff - dermabond - >that doctors use in hospitals before they stitch somebody up... i dunno, >i'm a pretty radical alternative thinking parent... but if one of my kids >fell and popped their chin or something open and blood was gushing >everywhere... i don't think super glue would be my weapon of choice... Guest guest
My daddy used empty spider webs. He used one on me once when camping and it worked great. Ashes work for cleaning if you do not have soap handy, that is where lye comes from and all soap has 3 main ingredients, lye, water and fat. Love and Blessings, Ellen The Misguided One meharv84@...
